Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Central Florida

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run - Cold Day!

Hollywood Studios - Orlando, Florida U.S.A.

Winter - Christmas Day - December 25th, 2022

*[Couldn't wait to get back to this cool Star Wars exhibit to get a

'second shot' at this area! The first time was so much fun! Enjoy]

*[We had such a good time at this new Hollywood Studio's exhibit back in Dec/2019 that we came back for the grand opening week of a new 2nd exhibit that they just completed. Unfortunately, many of the exhibits were shut down (including this new one) because it was too cold, the machinery does not operate properly if the outside temp is below 40 degrees, and we were at about 35 degrees! LOL For Florida that is very low! So, I just took all the new exterior shots.

They are pretty cool. Hope you like them. Thank you for looking]

*[The quite-amazing new STAR WARS exhibit opened just ten days

prior (to above) on December 5th, 2019. Since we were in Orlando

for a company holiday-party we checked it out. As expected, it was jammed in the daytime with a 90+ minute wait for the ride. We went back in the evening (with a 35 minute wait) and it was very cool! With everything all lit-up at night it was fantastic and we truly felt

as if we were on the Galaxy's Edge! A must for the Star Wars fan!]

*[We flew the fastest ship in the galaxy

while hurtling through hyperspace! LOL]

*[Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is set within the Star Wars universe, at the Black Spire Outpost village on the remote frontier planet of Batuu. Attractions include Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, a dark ride that places guests in a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance; and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, a flying simulator attraction that allows guests to pilot the Millenium Falcon through a customized secret mission on behalf of Hondo Ohnaka and Chewbacca. Restaurants and shops include Oga's Cantina, Savi's Workshop, and the Droid Depot. The land opened in 2019, replacing the park's Streets of America section. The 14-acre area cost an estimated $1 billion. - Probably why a park-ticket is $159.]

Helmet of a First Order Stormtrooper from 2015's Star Wars Episode VII - The Force Awaken's

Taken at Star Wars & the Power of Costume exhibit in Cincinnati, Ohio

The reinforced combat helmet featured an integrated comlink, audio pick-up, two artificial air-supply hoses, and a broadband communications antenna powered by a single power cell. The helmet featured built-in filtration systems that extracted breathable atmosphere from polluted environments. The helmet's visual processor assisted the wearer in seeing in darkness, glare, and smoke, though it limited the wearer's field of vision. When firing a blaster, the helmet's visor polarized against the glare. A built-in heads-up display also provided targeting diagnostics, power levels and environmental readings at the corner of the wearer's eyesight, and one could access data on various military subjects and civilian organizations on the helmets display. In addition, motion sensors alerted the wearer to any enemy the soldier might have missed. Seeking to discourage nonessential chatter which was strictly off-limits while on-duty, stormtrooper helmets recorded everything that was said by the user, sending it to monitors to review after downloading the data off of the armor's memory.

(not as sharp as i'd hoped but still....)

George Lucas's creation of R2-D2 was influenced by Akira Kurosawa's 1958 feature film The Hidden Fortress. Lucas and artist Ralph McQuarrie also drew inspiration from the robots Huey, Dewey, and Louie from Douglas Trumbull's 1972 film Silent Running. This 'concept sketch' was created by McQuarrie in 1975 with red & graphite pencil on vellum and became the basis for R2-D2 (which stands for Second Generation Robotic Droid Series-2).

This photograph was taken at the Star Wars and the Power of Costume exhibit which explores the challenges in dressing the Star Wars universe from the Galactic Senate and royalty to the Jedi, Sith, and Droids. Features of this exhibit included short films that provide a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process and included interviews with the designers and actors/actresses. The experience is also enhanced by interactive flip books featuring sketches, photographs, and notes that capture the creative team’s inspiration and vision.

ODC-Favourite Movie Quotes

May The Force Be With You! This quote was said over and over by Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars movies. It was the way of saying "good luck" in the future. My kids were very young when they saw this in 1977 and they loved it!

I used a photo I took in New Mexico for my background and added Darth and Yoda for today's challenge. I hope you like it!

Artoo-Potatoo and Princess Tater...

"Help me, Obi-Wan Spudobi, you're my only hope!"

I admit, it was the mini "holographic" Princess Tater that made this a must-have for me... XD

Happy Star Wars Day! :D

This image is very similar to an older post of a pano of the view from La Grande Arche de la Défense, Paris looking down to the Arc de Triomphe. La Defanse does have a very future city feel about it especially this view so adding the Tie fighter and the Millenium Falcon just as the new Star Wars film "The Force Awakens" is out at the Cinema in a few days time.

The Millennium Falcon a spacecraft in the Star Wars universe commanded by Han Solo and his Wookiee, Chewbacca . The highly modified YT-1300 light freighter first appears in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977), and subsequently in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983) and, in a cameo, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005). According to Star Wars creator George Lucas, the Falcon's design is inspired by a hamburger, with the cockpit being an olive on the side. The ship originally had a more elongated appearance, but the similarity to the Eagle Transporters in Space: 1999 prompted Lucas to change the Falcon's design. The sound of the ship traveling through hyperspace comes from two tracks of the engine noise of a McDonnell Douglas DC-9, with one track slightly out of synchronization with the other.

" Spot the droids" as Darrell put it.

The image of the Millennium Falcon in this frame is by expert model maker

Neil Ellis. To view the Millennium Falcon in all her glory, it is a must to view large.

Well all good things must come to an end. And sadly this is the final Brownhorse 365. It’s been an incredible journey and I’m in a position now that I could never have imagined, this time last year. My photography has improved drastically; I’ve met some really cool people and have been totally blown away by the response that my 365 has generated.

First off, this is not the last that you have seen from The Brownhorse!!!! So please don’t go thinking that I won’t be doing any self portraits anymore. I plan on doing the 52 week challenge and I have been saving up my theme week ideas (hopefully you remember my mask week and my bread week). So keep your eyes on this space. The idea is that I don’t knacker my self out, and that the ideas should be stronger. So its quality not quantity!!!!! And I really do have some corkers lined up for the theme weeks. Also when I finally get round to it, I’ll be putting my favorite 365s into a book on Blurb, so you can have a little bit of me for yourself.

Now onto contacts. Thank you, thank you, thank you. To anyone who has ever commented or faved or just even looked, you have spurned me on to do greater things, and have truly inspired me. I have the regular band of very cool people that always comment and for them (you all know who you are) I’d love to buy you all a drink and say thanks in person, as I never expected that. The project started out as something for me, and kinda turned into something for lots of people. To be honest I still can’t believe that I get anyone looking. I’d love to be able to comment on all your streams and look at all your fabulous shots, but as you probably have noticed I haven’t been around much, and I’ll get onto that in a moment, and for that I’m truly sorry. The standard of work that you guys put out is incredible, and is constantly an inspiration, and all I can say is keep it up!!!

Now onto the future, you all know that I’m going to do the 52 weeks project and some theme weeks and the odd FANCY DRESS FRIDAY (how could I not). Well the other big news is that, together with some mega talented chaps, we are opening a photography studio and training centre in the heart of Brighton. This is incredibly exciting and will hopefully become a centre point for photography. We will be doing our own shoots as well as hiring out the lovely big space to other photographers and also doing lots of different training courses. I can’t really say too much about it now, but we get the studio in a few weeks, so again watch this space. As I mentioned earlier, I would never imagined when I started, that by the end of my 365 days project, I would be opening a studio with some super talented photographers that I met through flickr and earning a living doing my passion. Life is funny like that.

As the title of my final shot says….‘and now for something completely different’. I hope that you’re all part of this journey too.

Adam (a.k.a. The Brownhorse)

Congratulations to this creative couple of their incredibly interesting nuptials!

Alex Tavoularis, noted above, is an architect/artist who was involved with the conceptual storyboards for Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. According to the information provided, Mr. Tavoularis sketched this "Opening Frame Storyboard" option in 1975 (two years before the release of Star Wars IV A New Hope). It was sketched with a graphite pencil on paper.

This photograph was taken at the Star Wars and the Power of Costume exhibit which explores the challenges in dressing the Star Wars universe from the Galactic Senate and royalty to the Jedi, Sith, and Droids. Star Wars and the Power of Costume explores the challenges in dressing the Star Wars universe from the Galactic Senate and royalty to the Jedi, Sith, and Droids. Featuring over 60 hand-crafted costumes from the first seven Star Wars films, the exhibition (located at the Cincinnati Museum Center in Cincinnati, Ohio) reveals the artists’ creative process – and uncovers the connection between character and costume.

Features of the Power of Costume exhibit include short films that provide a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process and include interviews with the designers and actors/actresses. The experience in enhanced by interactive flip books featuring sketches, photographs, and notes that capture the creative team’s inspiration and vision.

Featured costumes include:

•Monk-like robes of Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker

•Intimidating suit and complex breathing apparatus of Darth Vader

•Yak hair and mohair costume of Chewbacca

•Fierce armor of mercenary bounty hunters Jango Fett, Boba Fett, and Sam Wesell

•Elaborately detailed gowns of Princess Leia, Queen Amidala, Queen Jamillia, and their handmaidens

•Intricately designed costumes of astromech’s R2-D2, C-3P0, and BB-8

This photo is just one of the many costumes seen in the Star Wars and the Power of Costume exhibit that allowed myself and my family to get up close to these historic and awe-inspiring films in ways that we’ve never seen them before. The next time I watch one of these movies, I will have the perspective of how the costume was designed & created and what inspired the look & feel. Thank you to the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, and Lucasfilm, Ltd. for developing this exhibit to give Star Wars fans such as myself this opportunity.
