www.stvincent.edu | Author Maxwell King was the speaker in the Saint Vincent College Threshold Series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 at the Fred M. Rogers Center on the Campus of Saint Vincent College. The title of his talk was: The Good Neighbor: Fred Rogers Through the Eyes of Max King with David Hartman and Dr. Junlei Li.
Just as Fred Rogers carried on a conversation with his viewers during each episode of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, this Threshold Series presentation was a conversation, featuring Maxwell King, author of the new Fred Rogers biography “The Good Neighbor: The Life and Work of Fred Rogers,” with Good Morning America host David Hartman and Harvard professor and Fred Rogers Center senior fellow Junlei Li, who focuses on applying Fred’s lessons in the real world.
A quiet moment...actually Max was in a time out for jumping...this was the first time the two have been close enough and still enough to be photographed together. I didn't realize until after the picture was taken the position of Max's paw....sweet :)
Our primary midwife Nadia is the one who came to our house during labour and caught Max, very successfully bringing him into the world. Things were a bit "chaotic" at that time and at the home visits, so here's our first pictures with Nadia and Max together. Thank you Nadia!
Max fell fast asleep with a chicken nugget in hand... couldn't hold out after working in the yard all day...
This was never going to be a great shot, at ISO 800 and f2.5 into the sun.
Still I think it captures his spirit really well.
People assume he is old because of his white eyebrows and beard, but he certainly doesn't act old!!
He belongs to Ali's gran and is a Patterdale terrier cross, we think about 8? He was a rescue dog so don't know for sure.
