The man on the left standing in front of a London Hansom Cab and talking to a monk, is Prince Maximilian Wilhelm Auguust Albert Karl Gregor Odo of Saxony. I believe this is early September 1908 and the 19th International Eucharistic Congress is taking place in London where Prince Max was a delegate. Prince Max was the seventh of eight children born to King George of Saxony, his brother Frederick Augustus was the last King of Saxony, he abdicated in 1918. Prince Max had become a Roman Catholic priest in the early 1890s and renounced all claims to the succession. In 1896 he came to London and was the priest at St. Boniface Church in Union Street, Whitechapel. The church was at the centre of the poor Roman Catholic German community in the east end of London. His time at the church reputedly broke his health and he returned to Dresden in 1897. In this photograph he would have been 38 years old but he looks much older. In 1903 he became a Professor of Canonical Law at Fribourg University in Switzerland.
The London Congress was held in several places, Westminster Cathedral, Albert Hall and the Horticultural and Caxton Halls but I am unable to identify the location of the photograph, at a guess it could be outside The Albert Hall with Hyde Park or Kensington Gardens in the background. In 1910 he wrote an article urging the union of the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches, after an audience with Pope Pius X he withdrew his article and reaffirmed his belief in the status quo.
During the first world war Prince Max was a German Army Chaplain on the western front and after the war he returned to Fribourg where he died in 1951 aged 80 years.
we stood in your room and laughed out loud. suddenly the laughter died and we were caught in an eye to eye. we sat on the floor and did we sit close. i could smell your thoughts and thought. do you want to touch a lot like me? too scared to say a thing. i left your house and kicked myself. i put those feelings on a shelf to die. i guess i'm not a gambling type but think of what the two of us had lost. i needed some time to think it out. 7-eleven parking lot. a toothless woman turned and stopped. i gave her a dime and a chesterfield. she leaned down and kissed my cheek. i was scared but it felt sweet. felt so sweet. she asked me if i had a name. i told her i was glued up on some chick. we sat and smoked against the wall. drank a beer felt the chill of fall. i took my car and drove it down the hill by your house. i drove so fast. the wind it couldn't cool me down, so i turned it around and came back up. you were waiting on your step, steam showing off your breath and water in your eyes. we pulled each other into one, parkas clinging on the lawn and kissed right there. said all my chicks they smoke these things and handed you a chesterfield king. held your hand and watched tv and traced the little lines along your palm.

Max Dearly (1874-1943) was a French actor, famous for his parts in 1930s French sound film but also for his previous career in Parisian vaudeville.
This is my grandson. Natural lighting is his favorite! He will pose all day for shots as long as you DO NOT use a flash. But...using a flash takes a little persuading and a lot of pleading! :)

Dopo il successo delle due produzioni curate sempre per i Nem-Nuovi eventi musicali nel 2009 (“Atom Heart Mother” dei Pink Floyd) e nel 2010 (“The lamb lies down on Broadway” dei Genesis), Max Gazzè torna a confrontarsi con la musica dei Pink Floyd, band ‘culto’ che ha segnato la storia della musica rock, presentando in concerto l’esecuzione integrale di due celebri dischi “Live at Pompei” e “The dark side of the moon”. Assieme a lui, sul palco, i MunFloyd, band italiana che ha suonato nell'estate 2008 al fianco di David Gilmour nelle due performance andate in scena alla Cadogan Hall di Londra, ed il NemEnsemble. Un evento di grande significato, nel 40° anniversario del “Live at Pompei” (il concerto del 1971 eseguito nell'Anfiteatro in assenza di pubblico), che vuole cogliere l’occasione per ricordare che a Pompei, luogo che fu di profonda sofferenza, si realizzò uno dei grandi eventi del rock di tutti i tempi e che viene proposto all’aperto, per tentare ricreare quella magica atmosfera. La seconda parte dell’evento, “The Dark side of the Moon”, è dedicato al famoso concept album uscito un paio di anni dopo, nel 1973 che, con 49 milioni di copie vendute, è stato l’album di maggiore successo dei Pink Floyd e uno dei più venduti dell’intera storia musicale.

A presentation in collaboration with interior designer Angelo Luiggi ( www.angeloluiggi.com ) of “Casa Fragmentada” at Plaza las Américas mall for the Feria Home Expo. Luiggi had been assigned the living room scene and had to choose furniture provided by mall vendors. In this case, he chose West Elm. We visited the store, he showed us which items he had in mind for the design and its placement in an assigned open space in the mall. The intention of the visualization was to show the mall administration the design before approval and physical placement.
