I thought the title rather clever, however, I would be interested if anyone out there found it disrespectful toward the Black Lives Matter Movement.
...even when they are only partially there themselves.
I don't have the time to really write tonight, I have to run here in a moment to go teach a class and if I don't post this now it will be really late by the time I get the chance to post again.
I will say that my assignment I will be giving the class tonight will be to choose a location close to home, somewhere within say, a five minute walk, somewhere they could easily go to every day, and then go to that place as many times as they can this week and to make photos. The idea being that on the second, third, fourth or fifth trip to a spot you look at it differently. It is an exercising in learning how to see. This bridge is my spot. I go there again and again, reminding myself that every time I go to look at it with fresh eyes no matter how familiar it may seem... it is never really the same bridge. This practice has served me well over the years, hopefully it helps my students too.
P.S. Saw a short video on-line today about Abelardo Morell. Do your inner photographer a favor and look him up. He has been a favorite of mine for many years now but his more recent tent camera work is so intriguing.

Je ne saurai jamais ce qu'aurait été ma photo sans lui (ca semblait prometteur 😊) mais celle-ci est aussi intéressante...

At a protestation on the front lawn of the Parliament Building in Ottawa Ontario Canada for the treatment and murders of countless indigenous children in the residencial school system run by the catholic church... What a shame... Its beyong words what the church did. no amount of apologies or money will repair what they did. All religions are scams for money and power. How many more has to die and suffer in the name of a god...
This was taken on the last batch of test film that was released by the Impossible Project 3 months ago. Quinn and I got some pretty good results and I got to rummage her stuff and rearrange it. I love shooting indoors, because the way a scene looks is a bit more fluid. I can slide a couch out of the way, put up a backdrop, or move everything closer to the windows so I can utilize the natural light that's available. As a matter of fact, using the light coming in through the windows was important on this shoot for testing something else, because I was still getting the hang of my new SLR 680. I don't think I'd done more than one or two other shoots with that camera, and I'm probably just now getting the hang of it. I takes a lot of testing to get used to these old cameras and new film types.

What Does Black Lives Matter Mean?
Black Lives Matter is an anthem, a slogan, a hashtag, and a straightforward statement of fact. While it is not a new movement, the message is central to the nationwide protests happening right now. BLM speaks out against the police brutality and systemic racism that caused the recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade and Breonna Taylor, as well as the thousands of violent incidents that happen to Black people that aren’t recorded, aren’t reported or aren’t afforded the outrage they deserve. At its most basic level, it calls for a shift in the statistics that Black people are twice as likely to be killed by a police officer while unarmed, compared to a white individual. According to a 2015 study, African Americans died at the hands of police at a rate of 7.2 per million, while whites were killed at a rate of 2.9 per million.

Today is the sesquicentennial of the signing of The Metre Convention by seventeen nations.
A metre matters. That little sentence is a handy reminder to not run down cyclists. Sadly, it originated from the death of Amy Gillett in a training accident. As part of the Australian women's cycling team, training for the Thüringen Rundfahrt der Frauen, she died as a consequence of a vehicle crashing into the training squad.
For the rest of us, metrication have been of lesser consequence — it's not life and death. Of those seventeen original signatories, only one has not implemented the system of weights and measures that are the most visible elements of the convention.
Unremarkably, today is also World Metrology Day. This rushed snapshot of one of my handy measuring tools is a placeholder to celebrate the importance of measurement in our modern world.
