A totally unexpected opportunity. I went to a light show called Space at Worcester Cathedral, this was part of it
Singapore has many HDB's, it's a form of public housing. There are a large variety of flat types and layouts which cater to various housing budgets. Some of them have a stunning design.
Perhaps they knew I love challenges and LOVE to play with images...lee.stephens and KpriceWicked challenged me to do a self portrait with the theme "The Matrix".
for their Self-Portrait Project Pool...Never mind that I was crazy busy...Heck this was fun stuff... I went to town!... Be sure to check their work out too!
I knew in my head, starting out, how I wanted it to look. I loved Keanu Reeve's backbend, but as in most things I do, it starts to strike me as funny, hence the shots of my laughing like crazy... Decided to leave those in even without that "Don't mess with me look."
Trainer at my gym said I should do that kick jump. In my outtake, but I thought it looked too much like the 'Karate Kid" so chose to not use it.
I decided to do the Matrix code panel in sets of three's, cubes and spheres...There is a theory that I was going with (a whole other story). I tried darkening my hair in PS, which actually I liked, but they did say "Self Portrait."maybe real, and how I look now?
I spent two days trying to find pictures from a job I shot on the roof of LA's tallest building, the Library Tower but the negatives are somewhere in their own Matrix, in my office files
Chose a metal texture for the background, highlights, on the outfit to give it the shiny leather effect like what "Trinity" wore.
Shot in studio with a white seamless, which I later cursed myself for doing, and wished I'd used my black background, as it made it difficult in cutting and pasting. The black would have saved a lot of detail work and I would have gone to bed before the morning paper arrived!
I used:
Three strobes, one with a green gel (which I ended up not using) Cordless shutter release, (which helps a ton when shooting a SP like this), Nikon D700 with 28-85mm lens.
This is George's take on the classic matrix move. I think he watches too much TV (no really, he does). In this photo he is jumping for sand. I don't know why he does it...when he catches a clump of sand he doesn't seem to enjoy it. But in any case, it makes him happy. :)

THE MATRIX
Every Sunday you see a new story from my Lightpainting Blog at HIVE:
ecency.com/hive-194913/@candelart/matrix-lightpainting
Today I show you a work from my office, which has been converted into a studio.
The MATRIX has been on my to-do list for a long time.
This shot is part of my series
"The Digital Man": www.candelart.de/gallerycategory.php?kat=Digital%20Man
My shots are created in a single exposure. S.O.O.C.
No Photoshop!
Interested in how to do it? Then follow me here or on HIVE.
... and don't forget to like it ;-)
My dearest friend Kim has undertaken a cooperative 52 week project with the wonderful Lee for 47 weeks now.
For week 47 they asked their friends to participate in a group self portrait project around the theme The Matrix.
Sigh. I HATE that movie. I don't get anything science fiction. Kim knows it too. May my participation in this project prove to who how much I love her.
That said, my SP sure does reflect how I feel about the movie. As you can see when I was offered the Blue Pill, which can keep me in The Matrix, or the Red Pill which can remove me from it, I sure did choose the red one! Get me the heck out of this science fiction hell!
Make sure to check theirs out. They are so talented in photoshop!
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this guys! Love you both!

Taken with a Filters Unlimited Matrix Revealed lens filter. Simply plug the filter's power/data connector into one of your cranial ports and see the world as it really is displayed on your cameras LCD, no red pill required. This simple to use filter has just two settings: Analog (used above) and Digital (the version used in the Matrix movies) which overlays the underlying code on the scence at the same time. Or take the blue pill and see first comment below. SE Portland, Oregon NB55275 - Happy Sliders Sunday!

My friends.. Kim and Lee have been playing off each others ideas for their 52 weeks project.
I was invited to play along for this weeks theme.. Which was the movie " The Matrix " .
This movie is not one of my fav movies, and I had to watch it the other day just to see if I could pick up any scenes or themes that I could perhaps imitate.
I could not think of a single one. YET.. I do know that the movie is based on NEO dreaming ( I think ) :)
So.. I set up my tripod tonight and got out my leather and set to work. I also look tired because I am. I worked 12 hours today, and then I have been trying to think how I could get this to work. Uggggggggg.. NOT so easy. OUT of all my shots I like this rendition the best.
I also do not have photoshop and can only do the very BASIC types of processing of my images. My friends pics blow me away, but.. Mine is simple but done. *
Hope ya'll enjoy it. Or that at the very least I can make you laugh * :P

Matrix fight between Morgan Kincess and Helianthus Mesmer
For SL residents appreciation group: Helianthus Mesmer is a brilliant girl. I met her as I started SL 2 years ago and she has a natural talent for being super social, as she's not over playing it, but only uses her brain and culture to simply get along with everybody who deserves it :)
I believe we'd be friends and would hang out together in real life if we were not at a few thousands kms appart
Oh and as she can be shy and humble, I won't tell her i posted this to this group ;)
