Brig. Gen. John McCoy, commander of the Wisconsin Air National Guard, and Brig. Gen. Joseph Brandemuehl, commander of the Madison-based 115th Fighter Wing, are surrounded by examples of hands-on physics and engineering projects at STARBASE Wisconsin, a Department of Defense-sponsored education initiative for fifth-grade students. The program held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday (June 18) at the U.S. Army Reserve Center in Milwaukee. STARBASE Wisconsin, which has been running since April, is operated by the Wisconsin Air National Guard and provides students with hands-on learning opportunities in math and science. The Math Circles for Elementary Teachers project will provide teachers, particularly those that serve underserved and underrepresented youth, an opportunity to deepen their understanding of math and how to teach it. Weekly meetings will provide teachers a supportive environment in which to explore fundamental ideas in mathematics. Why the hell did it take me five minutes to do the math in my head? It was $16.49 for 40 DVD labels and $29.99 for 50? Pretty easy right? It took me five minutes to figure this one out. Damn I suck.
She found a ratios project in one of her math activity books - studying ratios by mixing paint. It's like the project said SHOSHANNA THIS ONE IS FOR YOU.
So proud of my Eldest Daughter who got the above award :) Im telling everyone I know and people I don't even know ..
