For the Alabama Statewide Mathematics Competition held in February: ASMS won first place in District VII, Division One! Due to spring break and timing of the competition, we only had two participate instead of a usual team of FOUR. However, just these two students' scores allowed us to score 8th place in the State for Division One.

i love these math blocks, and almost always have them on the shelf as
part of one work or another. this is T's first experience with seeing
the results of his own measurements. first he lays out the tiles in
order (1-10). then he picks out a tree block and stands it on the
little platform to see how tall it is, and puts the block behind the
corresponding tile. i put out one block each of sizes 1-10, so when T
has measured them all and put them in their correct position, he has a
little tree stump staircase for his mini dinos to play on.

When you are trying to break into the business as a young musician you find yourself more often than not taking on all kinds of roles out of necessity (i.e. lack of money to hire professionals.. ;): being your own booking agent, taking care of PR and marketing, graphic designer, and as in this case, photographer.
This photo stems from a shoot with a mutual friend's camera where we took turns taking photos of each other in order to be able to send some shots to newspapers and include in various project portfolios.
This is a slight treatment of a shot digitized at a regular photo lab. A little dark for my current taste, but I'm content with the fact that it correctly transmits a quiet, reflective aspect of my friend's personality.
