This photo has been taken in the conutry around Matamata, in New Zealand, just a few hundred yards from the movie set of Hobbiton and The Shire, the place where Hobbits live in the movie "The Lord Of The Rings". However, this same valley was used as a short shot in the same film in one of the scenes in which Frodo and Sam move away from the Shire.
Questa foto è stata scattata nella campagne vicino la piccola città di Matamata, in Nuova Zelanda, poche centinaia di metri più indietro del set cinematografico di Hobbiton e della Contea, il luogo dove vivono gli hobbit nel film "Il Signore degli Anelli". Ad ogni modo, questa stessa vallata è stata usata come "veduta" della Contea, in una delle scene in cui Sam e Frodo si allontanano da Hobbiville.
This is a face-on image of a matamata turtle with its mouth wide open. It had just surfaced for air, and was now settling back to the floor of its aquarium.
Matamatas are ambush predators, meaning that they wait for small fish, amphibians, and crustaceans to approach them.
Matamata tuttles are native to South America. They have few predators because they are well camouflaged.

Took this image a while back during my visit to Hobbiton Village. And what a beauty that place is!! Hills, River, Lake, Tiny Houses, Trees, Awesome Scenery, everything at one place. The only thing I didn't like was too many visitors making it difficult to click shots.

Flynn brought a sketch pad to the zoo. He actually drew some of the animals he saw. We were all thrilled that, during our visit, we watched the matamata turtle swim to the surface to take a breath.
