L'histoire de Saint Jean de Côle se confond avec celle du château de La Marthonie et celle du prieuré, qui fut édifié en 1083 par Raynaud de Thiviers, évêque de Périgueux, sur les bords de la Côle, au carrefour des voies menant de Nontron à Thiviers ou à Brantôme. Bien protégé par le château de la Marthonie, construit à la même époque, et abritant initialement seize chanoines réguliers suivant la règle de Saint Augustin, le prieuré rayonne rapidement sur toute la région et moins d'un siècle après sa création, ses possessions s'étendent jusqu'à Limoges et Périgueux, tandis qu'un village prospère naît et se développe autour du prieuré.
En 1394, les Anglais ravagent et incendient le château, ainsi que le prieuré, dont les terres sont dévastées et les chanoines dispersés. Fortifiant le village pour se préserver des attaques, les Anglais s'installent jusqu'en 1404.

The history of Saint Jean de Cole is intertwined with that of the castle of La Marthonie and the priory , which was built in 1083 by Raynaud Thiviers , Bishop of Périgueux, on the banks of the Cole at the crossroads of routes leading Nontron Thiviers or Brantome. Well protected by Marthonie Castle , built at the same time, and initially sheltering sixteen canons regular following the rule of St. Augustine , the priory quickly radiates throughout the region and less than a century after its creation, its possessions s' extend to Limoges and Périgueux , while a prosperous village is born and develops around the priory.
In 1394 , the British ravaged and burned the castle and priory , whose land is devastated and scattered canons. Fortifying the village to guard against attacks , the English settled until 1404 .

my friend james asked me to photograph him running the marthon, and i said yes because he was nice enough to drive me to the country last sunday for a photoshoot (for my coursework)
he couldn't run last year because he injured his leg but this year he did it :)

Tháng 8 năm 2007 tôi chỉ tình cờ tham gia cuộc thi Canon Marthon (dù chưa biết 1 chút nào về nhiếp ảnh) mà ko biết đó chính là 1 bước ngoặt lớn của cuộc đời mình!
Trong và sau cuộc thi, tôi được gặp và quen với nhiều các bác các anh trên diễn đàn, có người là những phóng viên chuyên nghiệp, và có người chỉ đơn giản là sở thích. Thời gian đó, niềm vui lớn nhất mà tôi mong đợi mỗi tuần, đó là cuối tuần được đi chơi và chụp ảnh với các anh trên diễn đàn…..
Vào 1 ngày cuối tuần nắng to, tôi có 1 cuộc điện thoại của anh Macli rủ đi chụp săn chuột đồng ở Đình Bảng - Bắc Ninh. Đến điểm hẹn tôi gặp thêm cả anh Shotgun và anh Lê Bích. Cả 3 anh đều là phóng viên báo. Và đây là lần đầu tiên tôi được đi cùng những phóng viên đi làm bài. Tôi và các anh theo chân những người đi săn chuột, phải đi bộ rất xa, rất rất xa, trời rất nắng và rất nóng…Nhưng tôi rất vui! Điều mà tôi thú vị nhất đó là lần đầu tiên tôi được nhìn cận cảnh con chuột, zoom tận mặt nó. Và tôi chưa bao h biết rằng trông nó lại bụ bẫm béo mũm mĩm và dễ thương đến thế……Nhưng mà sau khi nó được chế biến xong, tôi cũng chưa bao giờ nghĩ rằng đó lại là món ăn tuyệt vời khó mà quên được J
Sau lần đi cùng các anh đó về. Tôi chỉ biết về nhà ngồi cop ảnh vào máy và …ngồi xem đi xem lại. Chả biết post lên thế nào và cũng chả biết viết gì vào đó. Ngó nghiêng của các anh thì các anh đã lên bài trên báo hết rồi :D
Thế rồi đến 1 ngày tôi về quê với gia đình, quê tôi ở Tiên Sơn – Bắc Ninh, cũng ko xa làng Đình Bảng là mấy. Lúc về quê, tôi để ý ngoài đồng thấy có mấy đứa trẻ đang chạy qua chạy lại, tôi hỏi anh tôi ở quê là chúng nó đang làm gì thế, thì anh tôi bảo là chúng nó đang săn chuột…thế là tôi bắt anh tôi chở ra chỗ đó và tôi lao theo bọn trẻ con. Thế là hôm đó về nhà, tôi có cái để up lên blog và diễn đàn , và của tôi khác của các anh :D :D :D
Từ đó cho đến nay, tôi thi thoảng cũng được xem vài bài phóng sự về săn chuột đồng, mỗi lần xem của ai đó, tôi lại nhớ đến bộ ảnh hồi đó của tôi. Cho đến giờ sau 3 năm, bộ ảnh đó vẫn sống trên diễn đàn VNPhoto và vẫn hay được mọi người vào xem và comment. Mỗi lần đọc lại các comment của mọi ngươi tôi lại thấy vui vô cùng, vì với họ, bộ ảnh của tôi đã gợi lại 1 phần của tuổi thơ.
Tôi thi thoảng vẫn được nghe mọi người nói với tôi rằng ngày đó tôi chụp thật hồn nhiên. Cũng đúng thôi vì ngày đó tôi chỉ có S3IS và niềm vui thích thú đầu tiên đối với nhiếp ảnh.
3 năm sau khi chụp bộ ảnh đó, tôi nhận đc điện thoại của 1 anh phóng viên báo thiếu niên , nói rằng muốn đăng bộ ảnh đó của tôi lên số Tết vì năm nay là năm Mèo.
Cuộc sống đúng là thật nhiều điều bất ngờ

ps: vừa nhớ thêm được 1 chiến tích thu đc ở bộ ảnh này, đó là vào bữa tiệc tất niên vnphoto năm 2007,1 bức ảnh trong bộ ảnh này của tôi đã đc diễn đàn trao tặng cho giải 3 ( chắc là khuyến khích thành viên mới như tôi ) . Giải thưởng là 1 túi máy ảnh Giang Duy Đạt. Đây là chiếc túi máy ảnh đầu tiên của tôi ( đến giờ vẫn còn giữ ). Dù là nó khá to so với cái S3IS hồi đó của tôi nhưng tôi cũng đã lăn lộn với nó khắp nơi rồi đấy :)
