The famous "Walnut Room" is meticulously restored and preserved in the Marshall Field and Company building on State Street (now Macy's on State Street). Chicago, Illinois.
He looks a bit different than I thought he would when I was a kid. Come to think of it, I'm not really sure what I think he'd look like if I met him tomorrow. He'd be a little taller than this guy, hopefully.
Field's Fans Chicago staged a protest today, the anniversary of Macy's killing the Marshall Field's store brand. We hung out at the State Street store, where things heated up. And when it was done, we went to go have Frango Mint Ice Cream Pie in the Walnut Room inside Macy's.
In the main atrium of the old Marshall Fields store, now owned by Macy's, a giant flag hangs. According to the sign on a nearby pillar, it's an old Marshall Fields tradition that Macy's has kept alive because they're so dedicated to traditional values and patriotism. When we returned the next day, to get a top down shot (the 5th of July) it was already removed.

The flagship Marshall Field's store on State Street is now a Macy's (yuck). It's so sad how Macy-fied it looks on the floors now -- almost exactly like the ones at home -- but you can't escape the great architecture of the building itself and the well of escalators. :o)

Attended an event on the 44th floor of a building dowtown. This pretty terrace had views of the lake and skyline.
