All dressed up for the holidays

A view of the Marshall Field's State Street store entrance. Gone are the green awnings of yesteryear, in favor of pink highlights.

The famous "Walnut Room" is meticulously restored and preserved in the Marshall Field and Company building on State Street (now Macy's on State Street). Chicago, Illinois.

He looks a bit different than I thought he would when I was a kid. Come to think of it, I'm not really sure what I think he'd look like if I met him tomorrow. He'd be a little taller than this guy, hopefully.

Field's Fans Chicago staged a protest today, the anniversary of Macy's killing the Marshall Field's store brand. We hung out at the State Street store, where things heated up. And when it was done, we went to go have Frango Mint Ice Cream Pie in the Walnut Room inside Macy's.

Cinderella heads to thee ball.

In the main atrium of the old Marshall Fields store, now owned by Macy's, a giant flag hangs. According to the sign on a nearby pillar, it's an old Marshall Fields tradition that Macy's has kept alive because they're so dedicated to traditional values and patriotism. When we returned the next day, to get a top down shot (the 5th of July) it was already removed.

The top of the tree touchs the ceiling of the beyond the last floor.
