I was out taking pictures with a friend of mine last Saturday and then we happened to stumble upon a wedding coulple as they came out of the church. Of course I snuck up and took some pictures.
Thank you in advance to everyone that comments and/or faves my picture. They are all immensely appreciated.

Here, my husband and I, (E S and P E) are together at the Botancial Gardens; Florida. This experience and time was a lot of fun.
I love getting shots like these at weddings. All the worries, bills, bickering, tv shows, whining kids, internet, iphone, ipad... left at home. A few hours to relive that wedded bliss, to laugh, get drunk, talk dirty, grab each other's ass, say I love you. These two seem to have figured that out, if even for a few hours. I have to admit, it makes marriage look very tempting.
How he got that pretty thing, I will never know. (jk he's a friend of mine.)
2007 was our 31st year of being a couple. As you can see, I was a baby when we met. :)

water soluble pastels on cardboard framed on wood.
normally i paint, collage, mixed media on/in wood. my art is usually quite "dark and often "bloody".
i have recently been experimenting with pastels.
therefore i decide to "try" my hand at pastel using my usual cast of characters that one normally sees in my art.
i am quite surprised with how the piece has turned out. although the "people" that are represented in this piece are ones i've used before they have never been used in quite this way..by that i mean......so "cheerful"!!! ( as i view the piece). normally my art is rather dark, has lots of grim figures, "blood", etc. but this piece practically sparkles with pinks, light blue, turquoise, bright oranges, yellows. and, i think, that changes the nature of the piece.
what do i think of this art piece? hmmmm......i think i rather like it.....
considering that it started out only as an "experiment" and not intended to be a "serious" piece, i suppose i have achieved my goal. i now know i can use pastel with my usual people/figures/hands/etc. but....i also know that pastel and "blood" do not mix..at least not for me, not at this moment. maybe as i try again "there will be blood" !
april 2008-here's some fun news: i just sold two of my (new medium for me) pastels..."pastel 2: why are they crying?" and "pastel 10".
i also sold "pastel 5: paradise" found a few weeks ago.
i made all these new pastels for my upcoming "artomatic" art show, 29 may-5 july.
i am mega psyched. three pastels sold before the show even opens. luckily i've continued to work so i have others i can hang and still have the 12 i wanted to hang...just not the "original" 12!

Meoto Iwa, or the Married Couple Rocks, are two rocky stacks in the sea off Futami, Mie, Japan. They are joined by a shimenawa (a heavy rope of rice straw) and are considered sacred by worshippers at the neighboring Futami Okitama Shrine (Futami Okitama Jinja. According to Shinto, the rocks represent the union of the creator kami, Izanagi and Izanami. The rocks, therefore, celebrate the union in marriage of man and woman. The rope, which weighs 40 kilograms, must be replaced several times a year in a special ceremony. The larger rock, said to be male, has a small torii at its peak.
At dawn during the summer, the sun appears to rise between the two rocks. Mount Fuji is visible in the distance. At low tide, the rocks are not separated by water.

(Pakistani Wedding) My Sister Walking Alongside My Niece The Bride As Our Parents Are Remembered - Day 1 - IMRAN™
As my sister walked alongside my niece I was reminded of photos of my sister's wedding and our late mother next to her. Our baby brother is visible taking pictures right behind them.
This was another of those occasions where our departed parents (both from our side as well as my brother-in-law's) were all missed. It was even more so as my niece looked almost exactly like my mother did when she had married my father six decades ago.
May their souls know they are all alive in our memories, and even in the new memories being created.
