Early autumn color along the banks of the Dead River near Marquette, MI. The old 510 bridge was originally located in rural Pennsylvania on the Allegheny River. It was purchased by the Michigan State Highway Department in 1919 and erected in it's current location is 1921 to carry the road over the Dead River. As always, thanks for all your visits and comments!

Exciting to watch this Shetland Otter with a good size meal. The European Otter - Lutra Lutra - live on the coast in the Shetland Isles and feed among the kelp beds. Although living and finding their food in salt water these Otters - known as 'Dratsi' in Shetland have to have access to fresh water to clean their fur. When living in the sea, individuals of this species are sometimes referred to as "sea otters", but they should not be confused with the true sea otter, a North American species much more strongly adapted to a marine existence. It is times like this I would have enjoyed a 600mm lens!!!!, as I was a considerable distance from him as they are incredibly sensitive and shy.
