The Capitoline Hill between the Forum and the Campus Martius, is one of the seven hills of Rome. By the 16th century, Capitolinus had become Campidoglio in Italian. The English word capitol derives from Capitoline. The Capitoline contains few ancient ground-level ruins, as they are almost entirely covered up by Medieval and Renaissance palaces (now housing the Capitoline Museums) that surround a piazza, a significant urban plan designed by Michelangelo.

The main sketch has Monet as taken from the mug shot in my German catalog.

The small is Holbein's drawing of the Roman Emperor, Marcus Aurelius.

I think that most would agree that these are two wise men.

803 wise men

Two great wise men are in these sketches here.

Aurelius, Roman Emperor, made men fear.

Impress'nist founder, Monet, had no peer.

"Impression" painting gave the group its name.

Giverny garden - grow the style his aim.

French outdoors genius earned him world-wide fame.

Commodus, emp'ror's son was less than wise.

With too much wisdom, mother nature sighs.

Philos'pher's son can make more folly rise.

A noble man compares and estimates himself by an idea which is higher than himself; and a mean man, by one lower than himself. The one produces aspiration; the other ambition, which is the way in which a vulgar man aspires.

First try at shooting my ancient coins, I see that this is going to be tricky. Need to break out the tripod and get better light.
