We got through the second weekend of the NCAA tournament, but my bracket picks did not survive. Now it's on to the Final Four!

We hosted the Lightweights DISTRICT Class B Tournament and won. I scored in both games. The Title Game Low Point-Washburn IL hadn't rolled over yet and was stubborn. Coach Tony Blew demanded we turn it on and win by 20 *like usual*

The Machine did just that the starters went wild and the subs played most the 4th Quarter. I noticed the score was 18 points difference with 7 seconds left. Their guard faked a high pass to the CENTER I was guarding, I thought to myself, If he does pass it, I'm going to steal it and score ....get that 20 point difference. Sure enough, their guard tossed it high to my man, I jumped up to steal it, dribbled fast, slowed to throw the smaller man off a bit and sped up .. I could hear our crowd screaming ... 4-3-2!! SHOOT!! 1 ... I put up a fly-by bank shot just outside the left lane and it went in. The place went nuts, we won the DISTRICT Trophy and I told the coach, I got you that 20 point win you wanted. He laughed and laughed as our team celebrated. On to the Sectionals.

March Madness time - March 1st 1972 *Colorized in GIMP. Practicing colorizing B&W Photos. WE accept our Champion's Trophy. I'm in the back-middle with both hands up by the ladder, red sweat band on right wrist. We drove home chanting "We're no 1!!!" and were greeted at the Fire House by engines where Cheerleaders and Players were paraded around town for a short time, siren blaring. We ended back at Pearce Grade School for the celebration with Punch and Cake.

What better way to celebrate a STATE TITLE than a Father-SON Game? Cheerleader's and Players Fathers played against Lightweights first half, Heavyweights 2nd Half in the annual game. My Dad and I started, I came out and banked one in right away. Dad scored later on as he used to do with the Streator IL Bulldogs .. found some of his old Box-scores in his highschool days in 1953 when researching THESE stories of mine in 1972. He once scored 32 points in a Sectional game. Didn't know how good he was until I found his old scores using Newspapersdotcom accounts.
