Glorious old map from 1877. It was enormous, several feet wide and maybe five or six feet long -- encased in a plastic sheath to protect it. I wish I could've scanned the whole thing and framed it, for the exquisite fonts alone.

(This is not the map I'll be using when I tweak some streets for BONESHAKER. This is just something that I found amazingly beautiful.)

Those little beauties where especially numerous along the Lone. Alas they usually prefered to look for minerals and sun their bum on the gravel over posing on nice looking plants / Diese huebschen kleinen Schmetterlinge waren besonders Zahlreich an der Lone. Leider sassen sie lieber auf dem Weg um Mineralien aufzunehmen und sich zu waermen, als auf schonen Wildblumen zu posieren.

This amazing map of the Michigan Peninsula was drafted in 1822 and was, of course, done without the use of planes or any other means of aerial vision - and yet is very true to scale.

Antique Hostel was about a block from the Blue Mosque

Better late than never. I really liked making the trees on this one. I wanted it to look illustrative and stylized. I'm not too happy with how the various place names turned out, I just couldn't find a color that worked with the whole map so I just did a bunch of different ones.
