There are two different annual generations of the map butterfly: the spring and the summer generation. The one shown on the picture belongs to the spring generation.
War maps adorn the walls of various rooms in the Reunificiation Palace, used as the main South Vietnamese base during the war.
Added mountains and rivers and border tints. I made a mountain brush (344x377) and stamped/erased it all over the map, then painted the mountain highlights on to make it pop.
Today, after digging out my trusty California map that I got in the mail from the tourism office (the last time I traveled to CA) I found you all very easily!
Michael, when you get back from climbing Everest you'll see I 'borrowed' some of your pics ... they were all right there in your photostream, I couldn't help it! lol....
So now I have a better understanding of the distances involved with regard to where you all are. The couple in San Marcos is my cousin David and his wife Suzie.
Of course, All Sizes shows it much better.

My first attempt at bookbinding. This is a coptic bound journal with a key clasp. The covers are thrifted game boards covered with antique map reproductions (the endpapers from an old atlas).
