Map of routes of the Underground Railroad. Following the passage of the Fugitive Slave Act in 1850, it was not enough for escaped slaves to reach the North, they had to leave the country. P = Parking areas. One section of trail goes through Arryo Park which is steeper mountain bike trails. There is a bridge out so that part of the trail doesn't go through.
South part of trail can be accessed from California Road, a steep little climb past a dumpster along Chuckanut Drive.
This part of the trail goes out to Larabee State Park with one steep dip along the trail about 2/3rds of the way to Larabee. The rest of the trail is pretty level.
Past Larabee Park's main paring lots there is a continuation of the trail down to Clayton Beach. This part is more rough.
The letter T in Map 1 is the Bus Terminal in Pedro Montt street and the balloon with a letter A is my house in Pasaje Lund 16.
In Pedro Montt street you can take a colectivo marked with number 8 (or C) in a big orange sign at the top of the roof which also says Cordillera. You can ask the driver to drop you in "Subida Castillo" in Merlet Street or plaza Eleuterio Ramirez, then you can walk by the same street you were coming but this time down the hill two blocks and at your left you'll find Pasaje Lund, my home is at the end of that walk only street marked with number 16, my door has a "Bienvenidos (Welcome)" sign also. The price of the colectivo from the bus terminal to subida Castillo is 500 pesos approx.
*"Colectivos" are cheaper than taxis in Valparaiso. Colectivo is like a city bus but in a car.

this is where I lived during high school. My parents lived there till after I got out of college. It's the place that would feel most like home, I guess.
I wanted to hike on some of these trails around the old youth hostel but I think the hike out by the old farm did me in, especially the gorge.
