Nick Catford and his team on top form. I like Nicks' cartographers' classic style - simple black lines and text on a white background with variations in text size and line width.

Simply the general world where my characters live

Arne's finger is pointing at our current location, the fulton county airport. He explained that we needed to be at certain height to avoid other aircrafts, and that we needed to keep our distanse to the other two airports in proximity.

Photos from our road trip down the South Island of New Zealand in January.

Bannockburn January 25, 2015 New Zealand, on our Journey to Queenstown.

The start of the Bannockburn Sluicings walks. We didn't do it as it was at least 36c.

Explore the Bannockburn Sluicings on foot or mountain bike. There is a number of different loops, including a 7km loop (2hr return). View the historic relics that lie amongst the spectacular cliffs and pinnacles that have been sculpted by alluvial mining.

The loop track offers stunning views of the wider landscape and is suitable to anyone with moderate fitness. Once in the sluicings, you can see a maze of water races that fed precious water to various mining sites, the remains of the blacksmith shop, and the caves and rock shelters where the poorest miners once lived.

The remaining pinnacles were left by miners to mark the corners of miners' claims and show how much of the area the miners had sluiced.

There are many mining features to see including:

Menzies Dam - the largest miner's dam in Otago, fed by elaborate stone water races from Long Gully and the Carrick Range.

Stewart Town - view the remains of a miner's earth rammed houses. The orchard planted in 1906 still bear delicious pears and apricots.

I always get lost in the Technodrome in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES game. And once I find my way, I get owned by the astronauts. But it's a nice map, I think. One reason I draw my own maps is because looking at a ROM-captured map can be hard to see exactly what the paths are because there's so much detail in the foregrounds and backgrounds. Sometimes my maps of paths are single lines (like Metroid and Aria of Sorrow) and sometimes they're outlined hallways like this. The hallway look is easier to follow, but harder to draw. The proportions keep getting messed up.

The circle is where Diana and I will be tabling for MoCCA next Saturday. Take a look at our websites and see how drastically different we are in style and skill. IT'S A PERFECT MATCH!

St Joseph Ave and Mora Dr cross under and over 280. I thought I could make a loop out of it...

Mora has an extremely steep section heading away from Foothill leading to the entrance to Rancho San Antonio. After that, it's a short climb up to the water tank and some very nice views. It's all downhill from there, but I decided to head back up the steep climb to the water tank for some extra pain. A pedestrian that I had passed already exclaimed "You must be a masochist!". He's probably right.
