Ah My Friends! I'm glad You've decided to stop on by and take a look at My Map of our Glorious State, Pennsylvania! My scouts just finished this version last week and You are the First to see it besides Myself. We once stood as one of the Old Nations greatest States. We had almost 12 million people living within our borders, but after the bombs... We lost 9 million. Our census 4 years ago showed we had 4 million, but we figured after radiation poisoning we lost an additional 1 million. Our largest resources consist of Metal Ores, Coal, Agricultural goods, Horses and Timber. My people pride themselves on a strong work ethic and loyalty to Myself and State. Some call my a Tyrant, and our neighbors to the West (Ohio) Say I will fall as Leader to my people within then Year. I am a Dictator by "standard Governmental beliefs", but I've turned such a negative word into a positive one. I Hope to someday be viewed as a mentor to other States, a template if you would for other Strong leaders like Myself.

Although named Bunker Hill, the battle was actually fought at nearby Breeds Hill. Both sides wanted the hill as it allowed them to overlook Boston and the waterways leading into the area.
A sampling of election night Twitter traffic that I was able to geocode. These are tweets that include the word "Obama".
The arcs are tweets that were directed at another person. The blue circle is the source, and the green circle is the target.
Purple dots are tweets that were directed at the world at large.--

mapped using QGIS 2.18.10, base locations from Wikipedia. Shows all bases, some of which are no longer used, or are summer-only.
I watched "The Thing" the other day... Norwegian bases are nowhere near the American bases. They're on the other side of the continent. :-)
Used Python to generate the 10 degree lines of latitude and longitude, as print composer grids don't work too well with Polar projections like this one.
Effective November, 1977. Celebrating it's 50 year anniversary, VARIG (wich stands for Viaçao Aerea Rio Grandense) was flying worldwide with Boeing 707 and DC10 aircraft. The airiline filled for banckruptcy protection in 2005 and in 2006 had it's valuable assets sold off for 'just' USD 24 million. The brand VARIG still exists, being operated by GOL Airlines. None of the European/US/Asian/African routes are operated anymore but a few South American cities (Buenos Aires/Santiago/Caracas/Bogota).
