A very hard contre jour frame from Cape Tourville looking northward to Cape Lodi and Paddy's Head on Tasmania's east coast.

Have posted a couple of others from here before but decided to embrace the smoke in the air present on the day.

Cape Tourville is within the Freycinet National Park and was named in honour of the impressively titled, Admiral Ann Hilarion de Contentin, Comte de Tourville (1642-1701) in 1802 by French explorer, navigator, hydrographer and cartographer, Captain Nicholas Baudin.

A frame from a restored junker Takumar 135/3.5 preset.

I am learning and testing the lens at the same time but with different camera. It is taken on fully manual including metering. Honest opinion will be much appreciated.

We went on a wonderful vacation / family reunion to California last week. We arrived at our Newport Beach resort on Friday Oct 1st. Spent Saturday afternoon at the beach and then there was an oil spill… 125,000 gallons of crude spilled off the coast. Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and all the small spots between were closed. We drive a ways down the coast to Dana Point and spent Monday afternoon at the beach just to have a storm come through; everyone out of the water… Monday night a storm came through and knocked out the power at the resort.

Such a memorable time though! It was fun and different than we expected but we found refuge in our family and getting together to share meals. We visited some ancestor graves in the majestic Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, CA.

On our way back home we always stop at the Imperial Sand Dunes. It was so windy it felt like getting sand blasted but it was so worth the stop. I am of the firm opinion that bad weather = excellent photography opportunities.

It was such a great time even through all the ups and downs. I think of the words of President Gordon B Hinkley; "In all of living, have much fun and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured." It’s all about enjoying the journey.

I went out for a walk with my son

after being cooped up indoors working all day and this is what I ended up with. At first I thought it probably had to do with my psyche subliminally illustrating my thought process, but then I realized I'm really not that deep, just lazy, uninspired and pretentious.

we've always put the Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving and decorated it with all my handmade ornaments... but because of Purrcy... this year I decided to make it easy on myself and only used ribbons... it's simple and elegant!!

Happy and Blessed Christmas Season...

I’d love to write something beautiful and meaningful to complement this image and though this photo speaks volumes and shares an encouraging story with me, I’m not really able to write any words to do it justice. So I will try to let this image speak for itself.

I had been struggling a lot with a physical health condition which I had a procedure for and ended up having some unexpected health problems after the procedure. All of this was interrelated with the effects of trauma I’ve experienced and activated and intensified the overwhelming, disturbing, deeply troubling effects of trauma. It was incredibly challenging due to the physical and emotional symptoms and I managed to spend a few minutes outside just under 2 weeks after the procedure. I was so surprised and encouraged to see this refreshing sight on the porch steps. I could relate to the darkness hanging so strongly overhead and within—I’d been experiencing a lot of this. And the heart I saw in the light was a beautiful reminder of God’s love for me, that He sees me, and is with me in these incredibly intense and difficult moments that feel like too much for me to survive.

Once or twice a year, I bring out my oldest equipment to ensure everything still works. There's no reason for it not to work, but taking a pic or two is the best way to find out. So, I headed to the backyard today with my Fuji X-Pro1 camera (2011), Pentax SMC 50mm manual lens (1970s), and a Fotodiox lens adapter. From the result, I'm thinking I should take this gear out more often.

This image perfectly shows the queen song "I want to break free" the dandelion seed is breaking free to float in the air.

I made this picture with a pentacon 50mm 1.8 with a reversal ring. So the lens is on the camera in reverse. That way you can make great macro pictures.

There is also an other queen song that could fit this image. Can you quess what song?

thank you for visiting!

A single white crocus growing from the dark earth, lit up by the sun, the shadow of its stamen can be seen through petals. Buttercup leaves are in focus in the opposite corner of the image.

Getting down low in the dew of the morning really gets the bokeh popping! This was shot wide open at f0.95. There’s a bit of chromatic aberration but that’s expected when shooting almost directly towards the sun. If I stopped down to f1.2 or f1.4 it almost disappeared entirely - but I also lost the smoothness of the bokeh as it started to take the shape of the aperture opening.
