Kenley Church, Shropshire. The cross and the guns are all carved in fine marble, this is a beautiful and moving memorial to a soldier who died as a young man in WW1.

Another set of pictures I found in a folder, and I have no idea why they are there - I've long forgotten, and there's no common theme or time. Some of these images are 20 years old.

I have little idea of which camera or lens, but I would say they are all taken with a classic manual focus lens on a digital camera of some sort.

Testing the capabilities of an AF confirm adapter on a Canon 20d body. Are they sharp? How about that bokeh?

This week: Disable AF and strictly focus manually. This gives back a "artisanal" element to the composition process, especially when playing with depth of field in close-up moments.

What do you do when you only have the 180mm and wat to shoot a large box? You shoot a 22 shot panorama of course!

For this project I wanted to use some of my old manual focus Nikkor lenses. It was something of a personal challenge to see if I could get everything I wanted in focus, even with automobiles in motion.

Day One - As cars arrived I had a very nice 35mm Nikon Nikkor f/2 pre-Ai mounted on a Sony A7. And I had a Sony NEX-7 with a LensTurbo II focal reducer and a 105mm f/2.5 Nikkor-P (later version).

Day Two - The contestant cars were displayed in the Grand Palais Ephemere at the base of the Champs de Mars. I used the Sony A7 and a Nikkor-UD 20mm f/3.5 and a Sony NEX-7 with Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 and the 105mm f/2.5 Nikkor-P (later version).

With CV19 numbers spiking again here in Europe, I feared events would continue to be cancelled. But, just like last year, it looks like they were able to squeak in another Tour Auto. This is the old Tour de France Automobile reborn. And this is clearly an event for the well-heeled.

It's been a while since I shot with my Nikkor 50mm. Since it doesn't autofocus with the D40, I figured I had better get some practice with it. I may have to use it for runway shooting next week!

My wife decided on a tour through southeastern Idaho and northern Utah today. It was a long trip, because I naturally had to stop at just about every turn, because of how beautiful it was today.

I also focused on shooting as manually as I could. My camera does not allow me to shut the light metering off, or I would have done that as well. Aside from that all the photo marked "Manual Focus & SOOC" were as much as could be achieved.

To see why I struck out to do this photo as manual as possible, please visit PhotoCapM and read Back to Manual Mode. There is also film coming from my old Pentax K-1000 in the very near future.
