During the 1960's until the early 1980's petrol stations used to give trading stamps, usually Green Shield, which you stuck in a book. When full the books could be exchanged for goods advertised in the Green Shield catalogue. In the war to attract motorists garages would give double or triple stamps.
Railway enthusiasts adopted the phrase for a double header, or in the case of the triple headed Llanwern iron ore trains, a triple header.

After a morning at the Barber Institute, we visited the Serbian Orthodox Church in Bournville, and then Selly Manor and a timber cruck barn, owned by the Bournville Village Trust.
The cruck barn, known as Minworth Greaves, is thought to date from the 14th century or even earlier. It was originally built near Sutton Coldfield and after being in danger of complete collapse, was bought by George Cadbury and rebuilt by his son Laurence in 1932 in the grounds of Selly Manor. The main roof is formed by a bent oak tree, split in half lengthways.
Both Selly Manor and the cruck barn are now a museum, set in the heart of Bournville, itself a model village built by the Cadbury family to house those working in the chocolate factory nearby.

This creation was built solely from pictures provided by Bill's assistant and housekeeper (in secret of course). It was on public display at Brickworld Chicago 2019 where it was nominated for best small building.

The house was built in the Neo-Renaissance style of a French château between 1874 and 1889 for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild (1839–1898) as a weekend residence for grand entertaining.
The last member of the Rothschild family to own Waddesdon was James de Rothschild (1878–1957). He bequeathed the house and its contents to the National Trust."

It was lovely to get so close to some of the animals - I found I had a soft spot for these goats, particularly as the nearest goat here came towards me for a stroke!

Wightwick Manor, Wolverhampton. Built for the Mander family in 1887, with a major extension added just six years later in 1893, both designed by Edward Ould, the house was taken over (somewhat reluctantly) by the National Trust in 1937. Theodore Mander and his wife Flora decorated its interiors with the designs of William Morris and his Arts and Crafts contemporaries. However, the Pre-Raphaelite collection was mostly assembled after the house was donated to the National Trust, particularly by Geoffrey Mander and his second wife, Rosalie, who continued to live at the Manor. It is Grade 1 listed.
