Wycoller Hall was a late sixteenth century manor house in the village of Wycoller, Lancashire, England. The hall was the centre of a sizable estate but subsequently fell into disrepair. The ruins are now listed, and form part of Wycoller Country Park.
Wycoller Hall is thought to be the inspiration for Ferndean Manor in Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre. The Brontës lived in the nearby village of Haworth, and both Charlotte and her sister Emily probably visited Wycoller on their walks. Parallels have also been drawn with the owner of Ferndean, Mr Rochester's father, and Henry Owen Cunliffe. One of the occupants of the hall, Elizabeth Cunliffe, also became Elizabeth Eyre through marriage.[8] Wycoller Hall was even used to illustrate the cover of the 1898 edition of Jane Eyre.

The Manor class of the Great Western Railway was designed and developed to provide the railway with a powerful yet lightweight engine, primarily for the weight restricted secondary routes which it inherited in 1923.
Twenty Manor class engines were built in 1937, nos 7800-7819, however the outbreak of World War II in 1939 postponed the building of a proposed second batch of 20 further engines. This batch was finally built under British Railways at Swindon in 1950, starting with No. 7820 ‘Dinmore Manor’, but resulted in just 10 being built in the end.
GWR Manor Class 4-6-0 No. 7820 Dinmore Manor is seen arriving at Toddington with a service from Broadway on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire heritage steam railway on a dismal 4th March 2023.
Westwood Manor was built over three centuries, has late Gothic and Jacobean windows, has two important keyboard instruments. There is some fine period furniture, seventeenth and eighteenth century tapestries and garden.

Yesterday I visited the Christmas Fair at Waddesdon Manor, a National Trust property in the Vale of Aylesbury.
The manor was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the 1870s on the hill above the Vale of Aylesbury. The top of the hill had to be levelled off to build the manor, together with the landscaped gardens.
A 'Country Life' writer described Waddesdon as 'Its lofty tournalles and skyward elaborations might well be lifted above the swelling foliage of thick woods in Touraine'
