"Astronaut Neil A. Armstrong, mission commander, uses a clothesline device to transport a contingency lunar sample into the Lunar Module (LM) "Eagle" on the lunar surface. Astronaut Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. was in the Eagle to the receive the sample. The frame was exposed with a 16mm Data Acquisition Camera (DAC). The two moon explorers spent part of two days in the Eagle and on the lunar surface while astronaut Michael Collins remained with the Command and Service Modules (CSM) in lunar orbit."

"The lunar excursion module burns its engine to lower itself to the lunar surface. Approximately 7,000 ft. per second velocity gains to bring you down to a hovering position. With landing legs extended, you have the capability to hover for a minute to translate the vehicle something like a thousand feet to actually pick the point of touchdown."
What the hell way is that to write a description? The way it reads, the buffoon responsible for writing it appears to have been using the transcript of a casual conversation, conducted on a patio, during a barbecue, with possibly a beer in one hand - cigarette in the other, by some GAEC engineer. Bizarre.
Nonetheless, it's a wonderful depiction of the Lunar Excursion Module descending to the lunar surface - by NASA artist Gerry Lyons.

Cernan, commander, makes a short checkout of the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) during the early part of the first Apollo 17 extravehicular activity (EVA) at the Taurus-Littrow landing site. This view of the "stripped down" LRV is prior to loading up. Note the dust being thrown up by the right-front wheel, even at very low speed. Equipment later loaded onto the LRV included the ground-controlled television assembly, the lunar communications relay unit, hi-gain antenna, low-gain antenna, aft tool pallet, lunar tools and scientific gear. This photograph was taken by scientist-astronaut Harrison H. Schmitt, lunar module pilot. The mountain in the right background is the east end of South Massif. While astronauts Cernan and Schmitt descended in the Lunar Module (LM) "Challenger" to explore the moon, astronaut Ronald E. Evans, command module pilot, remained with the Command and Service Modules (CSM) "America" in lunar orbit.

Ironically, the two photographs used to make this mural were separated in time by several decades. The photo of the F-106A was taken at Mojave, California in the 1990s.
Unlike most of the QF-106 target drones which were eventually destroyed, 59-0010 was eventually moved to the Aerospace Museum of California near Sacramento. See:
