Taken a few days ago after recording the moon rise. The tall ship Manitou at dock & the beacon on top of the Park Place hotel. Two well recognized landmarks in Traverse City.
It's on the way to Pikes Peak. In the background is what must be the mandatory small tourist town fudge shop.
Spent a couple of weeks as a volunteer here last summer. The visitation was low partly because the dock was bad?
Got a LE picture at the blue hour in the local main street. Pretty cool small town. They got their Christmas lights up already. In this picture I got a bus coming through at the right time (for traffic light trails) and got the star effect on the Christmas light.
This is the very top of Manitou Incline. It was a tough climb, but the view made it worth it. Sometimes it's not about how many miles you hike, but how many times you stop to appreciate the view.
If you look closely at the steps, you can barely see them. Full of loose rocks, definitely a hike to remember!

The Cliff Dwellings of Manitou Springs. These were stolen from other cliff house sites and conjoined into this mishmash for a tourist attraction. These structures are from different places and cultures. Still, it's interesting enough to visit.
Wikipedia described this as, “a group of relocated Anasazi ruined cliff dwellings and a museum located just west of Colorado Springs”.
Looking out to the Manitou Passage in a late afternoon scene, near Leland, MI. A cold April! On the horizon (from left) is Pyramid Point, South Manitou Island, and North Manitou Island.
One of two today showing off the fall colors in Wisconsin's Pattison Park.
This is the scene approaching the falls.
After a day of storms on South Manitou Island, the clouds parted toward evening. The sun cast a warm glow on the historic lifesaving station.
A Broadmoor, Manitou & Pikes Peak Cog Railway train moves through the yard at Manitou Springs, Colo., on October 23, 2021. The railroad recently reopened following a three-year, $100 million rebuild (More info here: railfan.com/pikes-peak-cog-busier-than-ever-following-100...)
I almost always find the museum and gift shop buildings as (or more) photogenic than the cliff dwellings, especially given the backdrop against the Pike's Peak foothills and Manitou Springs area. Two stop, three image bracket, 10mm f/16 ISO100.
