NCPTT and the City of New London delivered the sixth annual New England Cemetery Monument Conservation workshop on Oct. 7-9, 2008, in New London, Conn. The three-day hands-on workshop was developed for conservation and preservation professionals, cemetery managers, memorialists, and other professionals. The year's workshop focused exclusively on slate and brownstone grave markers. Topics included cleaning, consolidation, adhesive repair, patch fills and resetting. The National Park Service’s National Center for Preservation Technology and Training protects America’s historic legacy by equipping professionals in the field of preservation with progressive technology-based research and training. Since its founding in 1994, NCPTT has awarded over $7 million in grants for research that fulfills its mission of advancing the use of science and technology in the field of historic preservation.
