I had the pleasure of attending the Carnevale in Venice in February 2011 - what a great experience! This was about my 4th or 5th Carnevale and they keep getting better. Many of the masked characters recognized me from prior years and gave me great access for photos. I also had the chance to shoot with many others; some in masks and costumes, some face paintees, and some faces in the crowd - great fun. Because of the large number of photos I took during the Carnevale I will use a separate set for each day to make it manageable. These photos are from my first day there, Sunday, 27 February 2011.

While visiting Cuba's colonial city of Trinidad a few years ago, we decided to get off the tourist trail and hike the Caburni path to discover Topes de Collantes, a nature reserve in the Escambray Mountains. Our ride dropped us off near the summit and we hiked down the Caburni trail for an hour, loaded with camera gear, to photograph the waterfalls in the valley below. Hiking downhill was manageable but getting back to our pickup spot was a bit more challenging, until we came across a local farmer with horses who offered us a lift!

History and judicial organization

The Revolution of 1848 marked also the Austria jurisdiction of that time in a substantial manner with manifestations that act to the present day. The with this associated judicial organization brought then - here particularly interesting - most of all four court levels or court types: District Courts, Higher Civil Courts (Landesgerichte), Higher Regional Courts (Oberlandesgerichte) and a Supreme Court. To those four kinds of courts, the procedures of first instance - differentiated by sum in dispute or seriousness of the offense - and the review of judicial decisions on appeal were distributed in a manageable manner. That in the course of this the (only) Supreme Court already at the time of the monarchy could be found in Vienna is understandable, that it remained there from 1918 until today (apart from the period of National Socialism) is known.

The next level below the Supreme Court was and is formed by the High Regional Courts. In 1855 there were in the whole Empire nineteen, today there are four in Austria, namely in Vienna, Linz, Innsbruck and Graz. They act primarily as appellate courts. Next come the so-called courts of first instance. This generic term was necessary because there were, besides the regional courts also district courts - partly later - special courts for commercial, youth, labor and social welfare cases or should be. Of all these existed at the time of the monarchy, of course, already a significant number, in the area of present-day Austria were originally seventeen, today there are twenty after the Juvenile Court in Vienna had been dissolved in 2003 (Federal Law Gazette 30/2003). The district of the Higher Regional Court of Graz accounts for the Regional Court for Civil Matters and the National Criminal Court in Graz, the Klagenfurt Regional Court and the Regional Court of Leoben. The lowest level eventually was formed by the district courts. "Lowest" in this context is of course no rating but merely an expression of the position in the structure of jurisdiction. In Styria there were initially 45 district courts, including the district of the Provincial Court of Leoben 22 (Reich Law Gazette 339/1849). Those were merged over time. District courts are now still in Schladming, Liezen, Murau, Judenburg, Mürzzuschlag, Bruck/Mur and Leoben. Aside from court consolidations, modifications of the district sizes, responsibility shifts caused by changes in the value limits and also renamings there were naturally in the past 160 years repeatedly also suggestions or ideas for actual substantive changes of this Court System. For example, there was talk of dissolving the Courts of First Instance and to distribute their agendas to the district courts. Or these courts should be strengthened and therefore waived of the Higher Regional Court. Nothing of it gained majority, the from the mid-19th Century stemming basic system remained established and is valid until today .

THE REGIONAL COURT LEOBEN

After creating the legal basis for the new judicial organization, it was now about to implement them. It arose the familiar question of "where" and "with whom". The decision for Leoben was already on 25th July in 1849 published (Reich Law Gazette 339/1849) and also the top management for Upper Styria was very soon decided. As of 28/12/1849 the previous "Council of the Styrian state law" Dr. Heinrich Perissutti was appointed President of the Provincial Court of Leoben. He took on 18 February 1850 in Graz his oath of office and actually was taking up activities on 4 April 1850. He moved - then granted - to Leoben, there is evidence that he had lived at Unteren Platz, house number 121 (today Timmerdorfer lane 2). The accommodation question for the court in Leoben also could be settled successfully in a short time. This should move into the former Dominican monastery (now Land Registry 60327, Leoben register number 103), a building that was owned by the city of Leoben and the judiciary has been left to everlasting time for its own purposes (Treaty of 11 August 1853). This had to be adapted but only for the new task and it did take some time but, that is to say early summer 1856.

The aforementioned modifications of the judicial organization were in the first years in Leoben area relatively noticeable. Firstly, the High Regional Courts of Graz and Klagenfurt were merged with headquarters in Graz (1852 enacted and 1854 implemented) and on the other hand it came to a "downgrating" as to the label of the Provincial Court Leoben to a "district court" (19 January 1853).

The First World War, the downfall of the monarchy, the First Republic and the Corporate State brought in Upper Styria as to judicial organization only one significant, lasting change. The district courts Aflenz, Mautern and Obdach were merged with neighboring courts (Federal Law Gazette 187/1923, 276/1923). With the seizure of power by the Nazis in 1938 but went down the country's independent judiciary. Justice solely "In the name of the German people" should be distributed and probably to some extend it had a different status than before. Pure terminologically, the county court became a Higher District Court, the district courts have mutated into local courts (Journal of Laws for the country Austria 350/1938). What changed further was the area of the district. The Ausseerland was separated from Styria and the Gau (administrative district) of "Upper Danube" and thus to the district of the Higher District Court in Wels assigned.

After the end of the Second World War it came to the restoration of the on 13 March 1938 existing judicial organization, Bad Aussee, therefore, returned to the district of the Court of Leoben (State Gazette 47/1945). There were other changes. The most significant over time was probably that the1946 set up labor courts, which had replaced the earlier commercial courts, together with the arbitration courts of the Social Insurance and the mediation courts on 1 January 1987 merged in the ordinary jurisdiction (Federal Law Gazette 104/1985).

As already indicated, the terminology of the Leoben Court of Justice was subject to alterations. Beginning of 1849 had been created among other things the "Higher District Court" Leoben. With Order of 19 January 1853 (Reich Law Gazette 10/1853) to "District Court" downgraded, the Nazis transformed the term from 13 August 1938 (Journal of Laws for the country of Austria 350/1938 ) into "Higher District Court". The Court Organization Act of 3 July 1945 (State Gazette 47/1945) re-established the "District Court", until on the first of March 1993 the time came that the most original denomination "Higher District Court" was again brought back to life (Federal Law Gazette 91/1993). Without that during the whole period of the responsibilities and tasks anything really notheworthy would have changed, the Court in Leoben got three different names in five time periods.

Just more work done on the "explosion". It's starting to get cramped, so I set off to find a more manageable solution, see my "puzzle boards".

A more manageable sized, but still huge, bandage. Still gonna be in sandals.

This is my friend Hillary. She is also a photographer, but this time, I got her in front of the lens without her really realizing it.

It's warming up so much in Columbia. This weekend was 90 degrees. What better way to celebrate than to bask in all the spring time glory at the Congaree River. The water is freezing, but if its warm enough you're body can adjust to where its manageable.

Heres to the beginning of summer!

02_18_06 Mast Glue Up 2 - I use masking tape strapped around a dry-fit mast to make the staves more manageable when gluing up. "More manageable" is, of course, a relative term. It's still akin to wrestling angry greased snakes, but at least with tape to help wrangle, one doesn't have to do it while wearing boxing gloves. I still swore a lot more than I care to admit. I used lots of rope and sticks to make Spanish Tourniquets for tightening the staves. Cheap and effective and I don't have to fidget with a screwdriver or other tool while tightening hose clamps. Oh, also they are free. Magic words. After the staves are under control, the mast is checked for straightness. This one was fine. The mizzen, which is smaller and thus has much more flexible staves, needed to be blocked up on a spare timber for support while the glue set.

this is a disorder I have to live with for the life.

the blood disorder, heredity hemorrage teleangica which causes blood clots, nosebloods, heavy periods, and migraines

and I am sure there's more symptoms that HHT causes.

Nosebloods is one of most common symptoms which happens maybe every day, or more frequently. I cannot give blood to Red Cross because this blood is a rare type, almost nobody has it except my family. It is manageable, but quite difficult to tolerate through the day.

HHT, heredity hemorrage teleangica which i've gotten to accept is a disorder I will live with.

Greece is the perfect destination if you're a cat lover, and Rhodes has to be one of the best islands for cat-spotting. A lot of the population is feral, cared for by the Greek Cat Wefare Society, but many cats are of course pets. I don't know if these are feral or domesticated, although a lot of feral ones have the tip of one ear clipped if they've been neutered (to keep the population at manageable levels), and this one doesn't have that tell-tale sign.

One of the challenges with this shoot—beside shooting angles to make this unique compared to my last session at this location—was actually not with the shoot itself, but during processing. I snapped 221 images, each one fairly unique. I had to narrow them down to a manageable size for processing and inclusion in our portfolios. There were just so many excellent options that it was hard to get it down. These are just the first in nearly 30 images I will be processing. The challenge lies within making it so no two look the same.

Gift time! 808 examines the hatchet we bought him at Home Depot, featuring an UNBREAKABLE plexiglass handle. After watching him spend untold efforts with a hammer and axe at X-Day, cutting firewood into manageable pieces, axeing his own leg, and eventually breaking the wooden handle to his axe.... It's time to upgrade the 8's axe. Plus, they did not have a weapon for self-defense during their cross country tour. This axe would fuck up anyone who dared challenge it. MURRRRDERRRRRR!!!

St. Mellion Golf Club's 2014 Mens & Ladies Club Championships started on the hottest day of the year so far, temperatures were well into the the thirties for the Saturday medal round on the Kernow Course. Mike Bush had set out some of the toughest pins ever seen on a course that was firm and bouncing. The temperatures were a little cooler for the second medal round on the legendary Nicklaus Course making the course much more manageable, although being the Nicklaus it was never going be easy! The presentation of prizes was hosted on the Nicklaus 18th green afterwards by Club Captain Robin Hancock and Lady Captain Sue Poole. A great weekend of Golf.

I love the change of seasons, the contrasts, the different colors, the different light, the different weather conditions... Further more I like the Top 20 group system because of it's manageable number and a continual change of images in the group.

That's the reason why I've started 4 brandnew Top 20 groups (I wondered about they didn't already exist so far):

Top 20 Spring

Top 20 Summer

Top 20 Autumn / Fall

Top 20 Wintertime

If you like that subject too and have some nice photos fitting the topics, it would be really a great pleasure to welcome you in one or all of these new groups!

In this mosaic you can see a small assortment of my seasonal pics (all photos are taken in Munich, Bavaria and around):

Shuffle, step back, shuffle dance. I seem to like giving myself too many rules to break. Diagonal+ bluegreen+value and pairing each fabric with all the others but nothing touching the same print. Love the process. A design wall so helps keep it manageable.

Ever since the park service closed Topsail Rd. to the public, reaching these gems was a bit of a stretch.

It's a long walk from the main entrance, but if you can find a place to park out on 98, it's a more manageable hike along the nature trails right up to the lakes.

IDP's from Tikrit and Ramadi.

The refugee flow to the wealthy continent of Europe is just the tip of the iceberg. It's a minor crisis compared to the real refugee crisis hitting Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan, where resources are not so plenty as in Europe. Belgium is not overwhelmed by a flood of refugees like Kurdistan. Many internal Iraqi refugees from areas which have been taken by IS flee to the Kurdish region in northern Iraq. Most refugees remain in the region, and within the sphere of influence of the conflicts of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Browse through these photos by photographer Baram Maaruf and you might get a better understanding of the scope of the "crisis" in Europe: limited and perfectly manageable. It's a not a "refugee crisis", but a crisis of "political will".

ARBAT IDP CAMP

Arbat Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp is located outside the city of Sulaymaniyah in Iraq's Kurdistan Region. It is one of the most overcrowded refugee camps in Iraq. The camp was supposed to house 800 displaced Iraqi families, but now there are more than 2000 families (23.000 people). In each tent there are several families. It was established for Syrian refugees as a transit camp, but it turned into a camp for internally displaced Iraqi refugees. As the crisis in Iraq enters its second year with no political or military solution in sight, the government and aid groups are being forced to seek longer-term humanitarian solutions for the more than three million displaced by violence across the country.

ASHTI CAMP

It’s a short drive to a new camp location just five km away: Ashti Camp. UNHCR and its partners began to move residents to better-equipped facilities in June 2015. Ashti camp, was recently completed and will eventually accommodate some 1000 families who will be moved from Arbat Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp. They are displaced Iraqis sheltering in Iraq's Kurdistan Region. It looks like the foundation of a new village. Instead of pitched upon packed earth, tents here rest on poured concrete foundations. Plumbing is underground and electric wiring runs along poles that neatly follow the camp's grid layout.

ARBAT PERMANENT CAMP

The third refugee camp is a permanent camp for 6000 Syrian refugees, mainly Kurds from Kobani and Qamishlo. It looks like a village with paved roads, electricity wires, shops, little brick houses. Even though the whole “village” looks miserable, it is much “better” compared to Arbat Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp.

I finally found the courage to make my first Steam Punk block. It was fiddly and took me aaaaaggggges but I love it still. I might try and make one block a week, I'll have a quilt within a year. That is manageable with so many other projects on the go. I was inspired to try after seeing beautiful Steam Punk blocks from @farahlin_ and @lucyandnorman. Pattern and template from @amitie_textiles.

This blend is always a beautiful display but particularly this time around. It has a very nice manageable size of 5' tall that does not need to be staked.

Love, love this fiery color combo!

My Garden 2014

Sadly, an all too familiar aftermath of Christmas. A load of Christmas waste dumped at this lay-by on Thornhill Road. Simply too lazy to either reduce the waste (a lot of which appears to be cardboard which, in any case is recyclable) to manageable proportions to fit in household bins, or take it to the council tip at nearby Panteg.

Sprawling outwards and sky-scrapering upwards, Chile's capital, Santiago, is immense. Its central core, however, is manageable and relatively small - a roughly triangular area bounded by the Rio Mapocho on the north. It is a city of grand thoroughfares and plazas, lined with public buildings and churches and circled by parks. The grid town plan imposed by the Spanish, however, is conducive to traffic jams and pollution. The Virgin Mary guards the city from the peak of the 860m (2821ft) Cerro San Crist?bal, part of the Parque Metropolitano recreational area.

The city's attractions include the colorful Mercado Central, the historical center of Plaza de Armas, the pedestrian mall of Paseo Ahumada (haunt of buskers and peddlers) and the late-colonial and block-filling Palacio de La Moneda - former mint, presidential residence and the site of Allende's last stand. Santiago has plenty of museums, including the beautifully arranged Pre-Colombian Museum and the Museo de Santiago, which documents the city's present sprawl with dioramas and reconstructions"

I decided to follow the "Walking Tour" recommended by the "Lonely Planet" South American (2002) handbook. It took me most of the day (from 10.00am to 4.00pm). I started at the famous Palacio de la Moneda, the Government Palace that was first built as headquarters of the Royal Mint (hence its name). It was just outside my first metro stop. The largest building erected by the Spanish government during the 18th century, the Palace was criticized for being too ostentatious, but today it's considered one of the finest examples of neoclassical architecture in Latin America.

Samayapuram Mariamman Temple

Samayapuram Mariamman Temple is a Hindu temple in Samayapuram near Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, India. The main deity, Samayapurathal or Mariamman is made of sand and clay like many of the traditional Mariamman deities, and hence unlike many other Hindu deities there are no abhishekams (sacred washing) conducted to the main deity, but instead the "abishekam" is done to the small stone statue in front of it.

It is believed by the devotees that the Goddess has enormous powers over curing illnesses[1] and hence, it is a ritual to buy small metallic replicas, made with silver or steel, of various body parts that need to be cured, and these are deposited in the donation box.[citation needed]

Devotees also offer mavilakku, (Tamil - மாவிளக்கு) a sweet dish made of jaggery, rice flour and ghee. [2] Offerings of raw salt is also made to the Goddess by the rural devotees.

The temple attracts thousands of devotees on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays, the holy days for Mariamman. Samayapuram is the second most wealthy (in terms of cash flows) temple in Tamil Nadu after Palani.

History of the temple is unclear. In early 18th century, King Vijayaraya Chakkaravarthi built the present day form of the temple.[3] There is scant history of the period before that though it is believed that the locals worship the Goddess for many centuries before building the current temple. One legend says that the present deity was at the Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam, and one of chief priests of the temple believed that the idol caused him illness and hence asked it to be removed from the temple. It is a common belief in that part of the region that such local Gods have immense powers and they must always be satisfied by proper offerings and sacrifices. The idol was moved outside Srirangam, and later found by some of the passerby who built a temple named, the Kannanur Mariamman temple.

During that period (around 17th century CE), Trichi was ruled by the Vijayanagar kings and the area was used as an army base. It is believed that they made a commitment to build the temple if they win the war and after attaining success they built a shrine for the Goddess. Originally it was under the management of the Thiruvanaikaval temple, a popular one in the region. Later, the control was split and currently Samayapuram is under an independent trust monitored by the Government of Tamil Nadu, which also monitors the annadanam distribution (an act of offering food to the devotees).[4]

Festivals[edit]

Samayapuram Mariyamman Temple Corridor-3.jpg

Thai Poosam, usually occurring in the Tamil month of Thai.

Like most Tamil temples the main festival is during the start of the summer, generally in April. During this time, the temple chariot processions and teppams (lake processions) happen.[5]

All the Fridays in the Tamil months of Aadi (July 15 - Aug17) and Thai (Jan 15 - Feb 15) are celebrated in a grand manner.

Significance of the temple[edit]

Samayapuram is a significant symbol of the native culture in rural Tamil Nadu and there a number of unique practices concerning the Mariamman temples. Samayapuram has been used a model to describe rural folklore in a number of research works on sociology and religion.[6][7][8]

During festivals, it is not unusual to find people doing extreme things to make their bodies suffer as an act of sacrifice including, walking over a red-hot bed of charcoal and holding hot mud-vessel in bare hands. Mariamman temples also typically involve Samiyattam wherein one of the deveotees (usually a female), gets hyper-excited during prayer and starts talking in an hysteric way interpreted by the devotees as an act of communication by God.[6][7]

Heritage of Samayapuram outside India[edit]

The legacy of Samayapuram is well spread beyond Tamil Nadu and even after centuries of emigrating from India, many people in Sri Lanka, Singapore, South Africa and Fiji still maintain their loyalties to the temple and try to create similar temples and environment in their new country, raising both a cause of concern and an appreciation of diversity. There is also a Samayapuram Mariamman Temple in Tanjong Rambutan at Malaysia. There is also a shrine for Goddess Sri Samayapuram Mariamman at the Sri Veeramuthu Muneeswarar Temple which is located at Yishun Industrial Park,Singapore. During the month of Aadi, the annual Kozh Valarpu festival is conducted with much granduer by the Sri Samayapuram Mariamman Pillaigal at Jurong West,Singapore.[8][9]

Chithirai Ther Thiruvila (Chariot Festival in the month of Chithirai --- April)[edit]

Samayapuram is located 15 KM from Tiruchirappalli on the National Highway (NH-45) which is now a 4 Lane Road from Chennai to Tiruchirappalli.

Here, at Samayapuram, the Chithirai Chariot Festival is celebrated for a period of 13 days. The Festival Starts on the 1st Tuesday of the month “Chithirai”. The Chariot Festival will be on the 10th day of the Festival. The Chariot (Car) with Goddess Samayapuram Mariamman will be pulled by devotees around the Temple. It is a Maha Festival --- Grand Festival, which attracts Lakhs of Devotees.

Arrangement during the Chariot Festival[edit]

During the Chariot Festival, no vehicle is allowed to go inside SamayaPuram Town and all the vehicles are stopped one Kilometer away from the Town and everybody have to go to the temple by walk.

The Crowd is so much, though the Government made so many arrangements, still it is un-manageable. Luckily for Devotees, nowadays, they are following the traffic rule of left side walking in the road. This helps a lot for the smooth movement, which avoids any complications associated with big crowds. Still you will find that so many children missing, which is being announced during the festival time in the loud speakers.

During the Chariot Festival time, the Local Government arranges a ‘’’Special Bus Stand’’’, which is one Kilometer away from the SamayaPuram Town. All the Buses and any other 2 / 3 / 4 wheelers are stopped there only. The vehicles which are going beyond Samayapuram in NH-45 will only be allowed with a little bit delay.

The 4 laning of the National Highway 45 has helped to ease traffic congestion to a considerable extent. Onward traffic can take the flyover, while those going to Samayapuram for Darshan can take the Service Lane which leads to the Temple.

For festival days, during the Chithirai Chariot Festivals, there are 24 hours bus services to nearby places like, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Thuraiyur, Thanjavur and other nearby Small Towns. Further, there are continuous Town Bus Services provided which mainly connect to Tollgate (Salem-Trichy main road junction), Chatram Bus Stand and Central Bus Stand.

During the Festival days we can see that, the Tamil Nadu Police, NCC, Scout (School and College Students) Controlling the Crowd every where including the Temple premises.

Mother of all Mothers --- The Goddess Shiva Sakti ---Samayapurathal is so Powerful to fulfill the Prarthanas of Devotees. In very few temples, you can see the presiding deity from the entrance of the temple. Yes, Samayapurathu Mariyamman is visible from the Main Entrance of the Temple and it will look like that the mother is waiting for your arrival.

NRD159M was a gonner in the grand scheme of things when the Ribble group got hold of her. She was for spares and, stripped thereof, became a storage shed for other bits of scrap.

There was, if I recall correctly, an abortive attempt to drag her around the yard whilst full of said scrap. However, she's a bus not a skip and I think this act snapped her in two. In these photos you can see the cuts made to break her down into more manageable chunks.

A week later when more of the dynamat came in, I began installing the Dynaliner in the rear of the car. I only got the ¼” thick stuff, as if you get too tall, the carpet (with its jute backing) will not fit right. This stuff came in 32x54” sheets and I found it was best to cut it into 27x16” pieces to make it more manageable. I went the extra 10 miles by cutting out channels for the wiring to reduce “bulging” through the carpet. I also wanted to keep all important wiring visible and easily accessible in case service is ever required.

Cute red kimono ^_^ Also, Miyu-chan got a hair cut recently. Just a trim, but more manageable/realistic at this length :)

Bear baiting is a horrible, heart-breaking sport where a terrified bear is attacked by two trained fighting dogs for the sake of entertainment.

WSPA believes there are about 70 bears trapped in this cruelty throughout Pakistan. We're in the process of building a new sanctuary home for them.

You can help by making a $5 donation today to support the new sanctuary. Why $5? It's a manageable amount & it happens to be how much it costs to feed a rescued bear for a day.

The LNB (Low Noise Block Down-Converter) is part of the receive chain of your VSAT. Located on the feed horn, the LNB converts the satellite signal that was reflected off of the satellite antenna’s reflector from C-Band into an L-Band signal. The L-Band signal is in the frequency range of 950 to 1750 MHz and is considered more manageable. This is partially due to the fact that the transmission of the lower frequency signal can be more reliable when using a coaxial cable than is the case when higher frequency C-Band signals are transmitted of on this type of cable. Virtually all new satellite routers today use L-Band inputs. An LNB can be identified by its F-type output connector.

I had a great walk round the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail today. I went fully equipped to get some "slow water" shots of the waterfalls, but in the end the landscapes over the top were better. This was taken with two ND graduated filters (ND4 and ND8) stacked at the top to keep the sunlight manageable.

Looks best in the lightbox.

Last Wednesday morning was a bit rough for Jersey Shore Fightin’ Texas Aggie Ring. He had bough a kilogram of very fresh cod fish the previous afternoon so he had to get up early in the morning to get it ready to put in the smoker.

First, Aggie Ring cut it into manageable portions. Then he prepared a dry cure from salt, brown sugar and some spices. He covered the cod with the dry cure and put it in the refrigerator for about five hours. Aggie Ring was quite surprised at how much liquid the dry cure removed from the cod when he checked on it. There was almost enough liquid to cover the fish.

After washing and soaking the cod in fresh cold water for a bit, Aggie Ring placed it on drying racks for a couple of hours for a pellicle to form on the outside of the flesh which would assist in absorbing the smoke.

Aggie Ring put the cod into his smoker for about three hours and “painted” it with a maple syrup/spice mixture about every 30 minutes or so. When he removed the cod from the smoker, Aggie Ring allowed it to “rest” for about an hour before wrapping it up and putting it into the freezer.

While Aggie Ring isn’t the biggest fan of cod fish, it does flake easily and is quite good on a salad with some balsamic vinegar.

Yoww! Well, Rapunzel was popular! Tori's lustrous black hair is a couple inches longer than SHE is! I'm sure that Joey will trim it down to more manageable levels, but at the moment, she is a hair brushers'/Twirly Curlers' Dream! [^D

On Saturday I left my sickness-infested house and ventured to my friend's home salon for a cut and a color. This is the first day I have washed it, and as any curly-haired girl will tell you, right after it's cut it gets all springy and, well, HUGE.

It feels good to get rid of the dead ends, and it was great to get out of the house. I even threw in a trip to Costco (On a SATURDAY. I KNOW.)

At least I was child-free, so it was manageable, despite all of the vultures who like to park their carts IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AISLE while they wait for a food sample.

Day #2 - Spring Youth Media & Tech Camp 2012 (Week 2)

Greetings,

Today we moved from the Pre-production phase of the animation process into the Production phase. Yesterday after grouping into teams and deciding what movies to start making, we developed the ideas into scripts and storyboards. We set up the animation stations ("green screen" background, lights, camera, tripod, and computer) to make sure that each team could manage the work flow of basic animation. Then we began experimenting with the set and props to make a simple animation using "istopmotion", with crews trading roles to get hands on experience in each role (cameraperson, character animator, editor, and set operator). By the end of the day we had developed a plan for filming and recording sound the next day.

Today we recorded as many scenes as we could, learning how to make the still images flow into animations to be later edited into "imovie". The process involved making frequent backups of saved work to ensure that if the computer or program stopped working, the loss of work would be more manageable. After recording all scenes called out by the storyboard, we started moving into the world of sound design and began to record voice overs, sound effects, and narrations. By day's end we had captured all images and clips as well as sounds into the computer, and in some cases had started to edit them into a basic timeline in imovie. Tomorrow we will start to enter into the post production phases, where we will begin to see the animations shaping up into something to be ready for friday and the final screening.
