My character, Aurelian, in his costume.

I had much fun meshing this mask. :D

I only ever managed a couple of decent shots of plain blue 68's a few years back, when there were several waiting to be given Transpennine vinyls. So it was nice to see on my way out of work that former Scotrail 68006 was at the Heysham end on the branch, meaning it would lead north after reversing at Morecambe. In glorious light, 68006 leads an additional 6C52 Heysham - Sellafield flasks pass Holmegate Farm, with 68016 on the rear.

Wahey! Managed to recover my fluffed shots so I get the classic image to add to my collection after all. Took a fair bit of cloning and cleaning but got there in the end. Pity about the peeps but hey, scale.

I Google'd this and not surprisingly found hundreds of near identical images. Hey-ho. Couldn't not do it though, could I?

So.. lots of pictures taken with the X-E1, stitched in Microsoft ICE and then cleaned and tweaked in a bunch of other software. Threw in a shade of cross processing for that edgy, ain't I a cool dude look. Does it suit me?

Thanks for visiting and please come again soon.. no really..

IN CHARACTER:

Taken at Mischief Managed.

This waterfall is just downstream of the large waterfall that I often photograph in Pucks Glen, Argyll, Scotland. As this is such a sheltered spot I could easily have got the shutter speed down low enough to turn the water milky smooth but I chose this version instead as I loved the churning of the water at the base of the waterfall. I felt that it conveyed the power of the water nicely and hinted at the noise that it made in real life.

Manage to get a shot when the clouds lined up perfectly with the rocks!

I managed to get to Stourhead this evening a little before dusk to grab some shots of the changing colours before the frosts do their worst.

Managed to get out for a short walk this afternoon. The temperature has gone up and the sun came out. Heavenly. 😍

Took this in the garden of one of our friends who lives only a few doors down from us.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :)

managed to capture this delight while zoom-zooming in Vancouver yesterday, would love to meet the owners :)

I managed to finish work a little early . So I drove out onto Romney Marsh Looking for Little Owls they were not showing . Thus started my Red Letter two hours ! 1/ Barn owl very close 2/ a Marsh harrier in flight 3/ this Buzzard asking for a photo 4/ a Woodpecker as I sat under a tree looking for the little owls that I never got to see today . I have often spent a day getting a shot of one of these birds on the above list let alone all four in two hours

The White House at Blackstone Edge, Rochdale.

Took Mollie our for her first long walk today after she hurt her foot three weeks ago! She is now hobbling on three legs again, but i am sure her foot will be ok. She loved every minute of her walk and she even managed a swim :-))

Managed to get out before the cold snap ended and thankfully, the waterfall was looking lovely with the icicles and dusting of snow. Who knows when this may happen again!

Whilst the amount of rain in Scotland can be tiresome at times, it always makes for great river and waterfall photos :)

Managed to gett a couple of male Reed Bunting shots this morning before the weather closed in. Just starting to get the full black head colour for the breeding season

Managed to shoot these two together apparently having a bit of a chat !

Managed to arrive, park car, walk along the lane & scramble part way up Chrome hill just in time to watch the mist descend, managed to grab this after a 3 hour plus wait.

Thinking over and over again about the situation that happened last night with the boy she has a secret crush on, she sat in the corridor alone using her favorite spell over and over....

Managed a birding trip to Slovakia and Hungary. (I must be doing something right at home :). Anyhow, me and a friend of mine went over for a short week. Had a great time with some excellent sightings, but not many quality photos. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side. I managed this shot, one evening. This was by far the closest we got to one of these and even then this is a big crop and a lot of work on photoshop to clean it up. We had a few very brief and distant views of males on a few occasions no oportunity to get a shot though.

Thanks to all who view and comment on my images, much appreciated :)

Image taken, close to Hortobagy, Hungary.

Another from my work mission this week.

A 4 am start this time and a walk to Curbar edge in the peak district.

The edge, bathed in the side lit sunrise overlooked a mist covered Derwent Valley. It is a bit early for a full bloom of heather but I did manage to find a sprinkling by the rocks on the edge.

Thank for any favs or comments.

First summer #milkyway arch of the season (southern hemisphere)! While I’d planned to capture this earlier, time and conditions weren’t on my side—until now.

This shoot was a race against the clock: nightfall began at 9:05 PM, and the moon rose at 10:47 PM, giving me just 1 hour and 42 minutes to frame and shoot 55 long-exposure images for this panorama at 24mm focal length (37mm full-frame equivalent). By keeping exposures to 20 seconds, I managed to nail the pano and even grab two more shots from different angles.

The location? Wanagarren Nature Reserve, a sprawling field of grass trees, recently scorched by a massive bushfire. These resilient beauties stand strong against the harshest conditions—even fire. Nature’s true survivors!

Managed to get an hour, with the camera, in Glen Slig today. Had to drive through a snow storm on snowy roads to get there, but it was worth it.

In an earlier post I made mention of how amazed I am that these creators/artists keep managing to outdo them selves.

Six months ago at the last NEO JAPAN and as I posted here, I was raving about the quality of gifts offered each NEO JAPAN event by GABRIEL. I also mentioned that not one of the NEO JAPAN gifts would I have hesitated from purchasing and that October's off shoulder hoodie had been my favorite gift from Gabriel yet.

Well TAKUYA JIN has outdone himself AGAIN!!!

My first visit to the event, I had a problem with a lot of things not rezzing for me. I got to the GABRIEL booth and well, first of all I was blown away by a certain GACHA item and I just stood their in awe admiring it. After an eternity of that haha, I looked over and saw this awesome off shoulder jacket. I thought it was kick ass, said to myself "I am definitely BUYING that, lemme see how much it is." Well when I clicked to do so, it said ZERO linden, I thought I clicked on the demo icon, you see the sign beneath loudly marking it as a GIFT had not rezzed!! LMAO. Yes this jacket in the image is the gift, comes in both male and female versions and it's dope. I LOVE this jacket even more than the off shoulder hoodie. Really an ace piece.

There's only one shocker connected to this gift, I'll give everyone a clue, I am shocked. XD Shocked that for as much as I LOVE this jacket...that I came back the next day after getting it and I left that day with something from GABRIEL that I LOVE ten times more than this jacket!!!!

What's this??!!! You ask. Well, stay tuned you'll see. I'll give y'all another clue.

Back in the seventies, on Saturday Night Live, Garrett Morris had a recurring character who was a retired big league ball player. As with almost every recurring character during that iconic and legendary era of the show, this character had a catchphrase that became part of the public dialogue, that line was "Baseball has been Berry Berry good to me."

Well as is the case repeatedly for MOI..."Gacha machines have been BERRY BERRY good to me."

I finally managed to finish my article on "Optical" which was a small manufacturer based in Spain, which producing projection lenses for cine and slide projection.

I tried my best to find some information about the company and their products but unfortunately there still are lots of open questions. Believe it or not, I wasn't able to find even a single ad or mention in any book or catalog... Perhaps someone who knows where to find anything like that is going to stumble upon the article in the future and let me know. I'm still wondering how a company managed to sell their lenses without any kind of advertisement.

One of the reasons might be that they seem to have been a subsidiary of Benoist Berthiot a notable manufacturer of projection lenses from France... so they likely were able to use their channels (sales people etc.) and didn't have to rely on publicity beyond that. Another reason might be that it was just too small scale to leave a lot of traces. I don't have any concrete evidence of production numbers, but it's nowhere close to the big names among projection lens makers, like ISCO, Schneider, Zeiss, Bausch & Lomb etc.

However in my eyes that doesn't make their lenses any less fascinating or capable. They made some uniquely interesting lenses and I had a lot of fun using them. Here's the link to the article:

I managed to get in contact with the sheep registration office, and they said, we can keep the old registration numbers and get new ones for the two young ones. We're slow, and the bureaucracy is not helping, but maybe one day we'll be official. Europe doesn't exist when it comes to moving to another country.

Just a pic I took for the fifth year at Mischief Managed

Managed to pick up the camera today, still not 100% fit but getting there! Spotted this little beauty flying around in the sunshine. Will prob never catch up with all your wonderful shots, if I don't comment please forgive! Have a super weekend foks oh and HFDF ;0)

Did manage to get the whole Male Bearded Tit in shot, amongst the reeds, but there was quite a lot of vegetation clutter. Thought it worked a bit better as a close crop - helped by the fact that he popped up quite close to me.

Taken in Norfolk.

Managed to get myself up outta bed and down to the 'Dee in time for sunrise this morning. Two things happening here. It was a tad breezy and behind me to my left there was an outdoor Easter Sunday church service going on in Shore Street Presbyterian. Something different to listen to at dawn :)

I left early and the first part of the trip went well. Even managed to make it through a tight transition. But then things went wrong. A notification on my phone, the train does not go further than Dordrecht. And there you are. And then a bond is created, because you are all experiencing the same adventure. I started talking to a nice couple whose journey started in Canada and was dramatic from the start. They were lucky that they only had to carry one suitcase, the other was on its way to Germany. One opportunity after another to get away from Dordrecht failed. The friendly Canadians had called their son to pick them up. I was allowed to ride along to their end point Roosendaal. Great, because the NS had deployed buses from there. First I waited for the bus, then about 70km by road to Goes station where I could travel again by train. I entered my hotel with a delay of 3.5 hours. After I had settled in, I went out for a while. Definitely to eat and go to the Westerschelde. On the way back I had a beautiful view of the Bellamy Park. Now I'm sitting comfortably in my hotel and I felt the need to write this story down.

Once cat mom didn't want her. She needed bottle feeding and warm.. Managed to survive with our help. That's Alexis. Everyone at home loves her.

We managed to get out and about yesterday, been feeling low so it was nice to feel the sun and fresh air. Whenever we are in Steveston we always buy a loaf of bread at Romania Country Bread. The owner built the wood-fired oven himself and is quite a character. All he makes is one type of bread and it costs ten dollars a loaf but it is fabulous. As for Win Win Chicken, haven't tried it yet :)

Managed to snap this one as the sun was emerging over the horizon - the framing was a challenge with so much clutter

The things I do for my photography :)

I had managed to catch a mature bald eagle's flight sequence from the time it lifted off the nest, until it had its wings fully open. This shot is two seconds before the last one of the series, Power of an Eagle (20170528-151558-PJG).

This image is not cropped, taken at 600mm, with a slight exposure correction.

Enjoy!

Taken in Moncton, NB, Canada on 28 May 2017.

Managed to capture some stunning colour just before the last of the light went for the day. I played about with shutter speeds and thought 3.2 seconds worked well in this situation. I hope you feel I got it right?

I also managed to get a few shots later in the morning of a Snail Kite with an apple snail which I'll post later.

Taken in Central Florida.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving any comments or faves, they are very much appreciated.

managed to catch this lovely bird in some nice late evening light up on a moor

Managed to get out for a shortish walk this morning. Started off in great light, which then got worse and worse. But at least I got out!

An Oak-leaved Hydrangea in a public flowerbed near home.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :)

This is the reservoir in Bishop's Glen near Dunoon in Argyll, Scotland.

One of the small waterfalls in Upper Pucks Glen. The water level was very low that day so the waterfall was not that impressive.

I managed to get up Ben A' An after work the other day (nearly had to run it). I was blessed with some lovely late light as a gap opened up in the clouds to the south as a snow flurry blew through. It was a pretty bitter wind.

A few nights ago a mixture of a cloud inversion, then fog, rolled in over Loch Eck. The moonlight occassionally managed to find its way through to light up the Loch Eck waters.

Managed to catch the pipevine still and with wings open momentarily.

Entering the Darkness down the Alley....

Managed a quick shot of two guys in canoes who came down the falls of Shin, whilst the salmon were leaping. I had been taking long exposure shots when they appeared at top of the falls. I was a bit too slow to optimise the camera settings but you can get a feeling for the energy of the water and the action.
