Documenting the malangs with long dreads and their rituals known as Dhamal is intense reinvigorating photography more at Makanpur their spiritual base and also Ajmer Sharif during the Urus of Khwajah Garib Nawaz ..the malangs have very cordial relations with Hindu mystics and Naga Sadhus ..
There is no discord even the Naga Sadhus grow their dreads ,,I met many Hindu monks who walked with the malangs during Chadiyan from Delhi to Ajmer.
The Malangs have followers devotees from all faith essence of mutual tolerance in Sufism.
Barring a few malangs who did not like a Shia in their order I just ignored them racism bigotry exists in humans you cant get rid of it ..a genetic aberration I feel but I must reiterate the malangs gave a lot of respect and were very hospitable to my foreign photographer friends like Laurent Salesse and Boaz...
I miss the malangs as I write this post ...

His words stroke me...
I asked him if I can shoot him, he said, 'if you Would be satisfied shooting me, then go ahead'. I shot a couple of shots and thanked him.
A person was sitting nearby him and asking him to pray for him, he said, 'Have you prayed to Data (Hazrat Data Gunj Baksh)?' The man said, 'yes, I have, but I still want you to pray for me'. He replied, 'If you are asking me to pray for you then you have prayed with your heart to him, Go ask him, he will help you'
