Making a small angle between LEGO rails.
[method 1]
Angle is 3.16 degree, resulting in a radius of about 290 studs(2.32 m).
114 rails are needed to form a circle.
[method 2]
Angle is 4.31 degree, resulting in a radius of about 212.6 studs(1.70 m).
83.4 rails are needed to form a circle.

This is a sheet of foam insulation board I had lying around. It's very stiff but very light. I traced the dome and cut to size, then cut an opening inside that is wider than the foam one, since the insulation board will not stretch.
Sandstone Towers, Moon Rising Through Clouds. Arches National Park, Utah. April 5, 2012. © Copyright 2012 G Dan Mitchell - all rights reserved.
The full moon rises in a cloudy sky above sandstone towers, Arches National Park, Utah.
These rocks are near but not exactly part of the windows area at Arches National Park, where we ended up at the end of our first day there. We had arrived in Moab in the afternoon and then driven up into the park very late in the day - more or less gasping in amazement at the geology we were seeing for the first time - and finally ended up in this area just before sunset.
I'm repeating a story I wrote about earlier, so I'll make the first part short. There was beautiful light leading up to sunset, and there were some interesting clouds in the sky to the north. However, it was extremely windy, making longer exposures as the light faded a real challenge and also making lens changes unwise. After sunset I ended up in the shelter of some rock towers where I found some protection from the wind. I knew that this was going to be a full moon night, but I was a bit concerned that by the time it was high enough that the ambient light would be somewhat dark, making it very difficult to photograph the twilight surroundings and the very bright moon in a single exposure. But as the moon rose and I found a location from which I could position it and the rocks together, high thin clouds partially obscured the moon and allowed my longer exposures for the dim foreground to work. I might have used a longer lens, but the thought of changing lenses in the blowing wind convinced me to just go ahead and shoot with the lens I already had on the camera - and in the end I think that let me produce a more natural view of the moon than I might have achieved with a longer telephoto.

I'm into trying to preserve my garden harvests these days, so I'm making up 5 jars of pesto and freezing them for winter. It doesn't really freeze here during the winter, but it does get cold enough that the basil will look pretty sad.

Dona Viviana Alavez is making wax roses that she will use to decorate her famous "velas de concha" candles. The rose colored wax disks will be folded into the shape of roses and then trimmed to look like the flowers. Teotitlan del Valle, Oaxaca, Mexico
This is Moonstone Beach in Cambria (CAM-bria) California. Moonstone Beach is one of many beautiful beaches in San Luis Obispo County. I took an early morning walk along the wooden boardwalk that parallels this beautiful beach for several miles, then walked down a short flight of steps to the beach itself. I found this dual set of footprints in the wet sand to be interesting and enigmatic.

After coming out of prison last summer, Welcome is now a One Man Can Training Assistant. He explains how the project asks questions and encourages men to rethink how they value women and change their lives.
“How can I say that I’m gender conscious if I’m still being abusive? How can I say I’m gender conscious if I’m still seeing women as objects rather than our equals? So in order to change, I needed to do this introspection and move myself away from gang activity to understand I could be a loving man and a loving provider, if I just worked on that process.”

I was in the most holy Hindu city of Haridwar in Uttarakhand, North India, to experience the Kumbh Mela, that most holy gathering of people on the Ganges.
Like an army, a religious festival marches on its stomach. But, making food for the masses is no chore when friends work together. In one popular street food, semolina pockets are stuffed with cooked potato, onion, and chutney. This version was cooked over a fire fuelled by dried dung.

Someone came to visit me this weekend! It was very exciting to see Frosty and all his pals. Even better to see the look on Phoebe's face once the house was decorated. Starting to feel festive...The 'snowball' bokeh just happened. What do you think?

"I exist in the relations. Others create me and I am a reflection of others. I wanna be part of you - your body, your moment, your story, and your life. Once I met him. This encounter is still a memorable moment of something that moves me forward, let me dance and spin around. His body stucked to mine and we were breathing together. I have been embraced from inside, I became part of him. We were together, once and for ever."
