MAKE YOUR MARK

This mural was painted to celebrate the 50 years of art education in St. Thomas and Elgin County and to commentate the Public Art Centre’s 50th Anniversary.

Stay curious, Be full of inspiration & love! Dark times, be the light! There’s always a door by you to a brighter future! Life refracts what we reflect! ♥️

Amidst a sea of conformists don't be afraid to stand out and make your mark on the world.

Printers Row Lit Fest & the Chicago Tribune are posting signs claiming 53% of Chicago adults have low literacy skills. I remember three years ago when the folks at Open Books Store sponsored a similar campaign claiming poor literacy affected 37% of the population. 53% vs. 37%? Where are these businesses getting the numbers?

I looked up the most recent data from the National Center for Education Statistics. The official percentage rate for Cook County’s adult lower literacy population (and we’re talking about English language literacy only) resides around 19%. So there you have it. 53% and 37% and also 19% of us have trouble reading "a medication label."

I guess that leaves us free to choose whichever value best suits our mood.

I got my booty out to vote today ... hate it when it kind of comes down to 'who is the least worse'? factor. :p

Aftermath for this door from Peel Here 2007 @ The Ghetto Mansion. Show was EPIC!

This is/was the front door (open) leading into Damon's studio & now infamous Ghetto Mansion...Los Angeles Trade Tech has recently bought all the surrounding area. The studio is now a parking lot. If you see yourself, TAG AWAY! Let the stories fly.

And everyone that we forgot!

We found this bit of graffiti on our Chicago Photowalk in October. We decided it was meant to be a Polaroid camera! But the more I looked at it, the more I thought, "Hmm, that could also be a typewriter, maybe?" So I decided to whip out the Impossible Project pen set and make it indisputable. ;-)

This photo was included in a slideshow of election images on Chicago Public Radio's website.
