A Hackerspace or Makerspace oftentimes act as a co-op community workshop that operates so that members could have access to devices and workforce to finish their own personal project which would have been difficult by themselves because of either absence of tools, workforce, or know-how. The Makerspace in the Center for Educational Technology is a place to make the digital world real. With a 3D printer, 3D scanner and a variety of software and hardware tools, it’s staffed by students who can assist with printing, or help you learn how to develop your own models and projects.

The Harold Edward Cable Makerspace is in Dartmouth's Class of 1982 Engineering and Computer Science Center. The mission of the Cable Makerspace is to foster creativity, learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration by providing Dartmouth students and employees with access to equipment, resources, and training to design and build creative independent projects.
