-- Mahadev, vergeef mij !! --, van Akka Mahadevi.
[in jambe (-x).]
Wil ik ervan gescheiden blijven,
verlaat Uw maya mij toch niet.
Verzet ik mij ertegen, toch
- blijft dit maya ongebroken.
[in jambe (-x).]
Uw maya wil mij niet verlaten,
hoezeer ik ook ertegen standhou.
Wie zich verzetten om dit maya
te breken, díe zijn zelf gebroken.
[in trochée (x-).][* in dactyle (x--).]
Voor de yogi werd Uw maya yogini.
* Voor de asceet werd Uw maya een mooie ascete.
Voor de god werd hét gewoon verwachten van de
maandelijkse offeranden Hem Zijn maya.
[in jambe (-x).]
Als jé een berg beklimt, klimt maya
zo rusteloos je achterna.
Als jé een diep bos ingaat, gaat
het zonder dralen met je mee.
[in trochée (x-).]
O samsara, hét blijft altijd
achter mij en in m'n handen.
Hét geeft mij vertrouwen, dan weer
doet Uw maya mij vergeten.
[in trochée (x-).]
O Vergever, ik ben bang
voor Uw maya, Heer der heren,
U Die draagt een slang als sieraad
chenna-mallik-Arjuna !!
O vergeef mij, want wat anders,
want wat anders moet ik doen ?!
Toe, Mahádev, - vergeef mij !!

Engelse versie:
Even if I want to stay apart,
Your maya will not leave me;
Even if I struggle against it, this maya stays unbroken;
Your maya doesn't leave even if one stands firm;
Those struggling to break this maya
Are themselves broken.
To the yogi, your maya became the yogini;
To the ascetic, maya was the fair woman ascetic.
For the god, the assumption of monthly
Offerings was the illusion;
If one climbed the mountain, maya,
Restless, climbed after.
If one goes into the deep forest, maya goes along;
O samsara, it does not leave my back, my hands;
It gives me faith and then makes me forget.
O mercy maker, I am afraid of your maya,
O supreme master, Chennamallikarjuna, jasmine-tender,
Have mercy.
What else, O what shall I do, O great god,
O snake-adorned one, do have mercy, O god.

The Nandi bull, always associated with the Hindu god Shiva and always found sitting prominently outside any shrine dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Out man is said to ride on this bull. The fact that you have to pass the Nandi bull before visiting the main god has given rise to many amusing expressions amongst Indians, the favourite being you have to make the underlings happy before you can meet the big boss- a sad fact in many Government offices where you have to bribe the office boy before he lets you visit the chief. Of course, things have changed now in these days of online transactions etc. On Aug. 22, 2009, the presiding deity of this temple- Dholeshwar/ Dholeshwor Mahadev was officially declared as the head of Kedarnath and one of the spots in the Char Dham Yatra, ( a set of four important shrines to visit- don't ask me which the other three are, as I do not know). This declaration was made by none other than the Hindu saint Shree 1008 Jagat Guru Bheemashaankarling Shivacharya, the head priest of the Kedarnath temple in the Uttarakand area of northern India. The relation between Kedarnath and Doleshwar was unknown to the general public for the last 4,000 years and devout Hindus began to appreciate the importance of this temple only after this declaration. This Saiva temple, enshrining a linga, is the largest and the loftiest, monument of Khajuraho, measuring about 30.5m each in length and height and 20 m. in width, excluding the platform. Strikingly similar to the Visvanatha, it is much more magnificent, and its mature plan and design, its grand dimensions and symmetrical proportions, its superb sculptural embellishment and architectural elaboration-all mark it out at the most evolved and finished achievement of the central Indian building-style and one of the sublimes creations of Indian architecture. Decorated with graded series of smaller replicas of itself, totaling eighty-four, the grand sikhara of the Kandariya is a lofty pile, unified in theme and design. Like the other full developed temples of Khajuraho, this temple consists on plan entrance-porch, mandapa, maha-mandapa with lateral transepts. vestibule and sanctum o enclosed by an ambulatory with transepts on the sides and the rear. It presents each constituent element of the plan and elevation on a grand scale with considerable elaboration of design and ornamentation. Of all the Khajuraho temples, it has the loftiest basement with numerous elegantly ornamented mouldings, which include two rows of processional friezes. The largest number of sculptures of alluring beauty appears on the three bands of its wall. The interior of the Kandariya temple is largely similar in design to that of the developed local temples, but is more spacious and gorgeous and is replete with a lavish wealth of carvings and sculptures. The temple assignable to the eleventh century A.D., was most probably built by the Chaulleka king Vidyadhara.
