Bir Ali is located on the spectacular coast road and it is surrounded by white sand dunes, green rocky mountains and black lava deposits. You can spend your afternoon swimming or relaxing on a white sand beach or spend overnight in beach huts. The surrounding coast is a mixture of volcanic landscape and occasional patches of sand dunes.

Cum-u-what? Yeah, that’s Greek, I mean Latin for the ominous anvil cloud formation that hangs over the elevations of the pristine-pine-covered Coeur d’Alene National Forest, having the potential of delivering the blow of a pounding thunderstorm that would make Thor proud. Closer to the ground and the action at hand, the former Northern Pacific rails upon which a newly re-minted pair of second generation BNSF Geeps peen and ply are weather beaten and hammered beyond recognition not only having bowed laterally but kinked and buckled at the joints from over 100-years of usage and eventual non-usage and disrepair. A sorry state of affairs that does little justice to their past and present owner’s proud heritage. Post Falls, on the Coeur d'Alene branch, is just across the border from Washington in the Panhandle. Once served by several railroads, notably the Northern Pacific, Great Northern, Milwaukee Road, and Union Pacific (and their respective predecessors), is now a monopoly. The zenith of service over ten decades slowly, steadily tapering off from hard usage to a trickle: once a week. Down from as many as five days a week not too long ago. It is doubtful that branchlines like these will weather many more storms before succumbing to abandonment rendering images like this to the annals of railroad antiquity. Get your pictures while you can! If not this branchline, then one close to you. As rail enthusiasts, we have the responsibility to document these scenes for future generations of railfans. This was my final shot for the year at this stream. The run was long over but a few fish were still scattered around. I thought this more tranquil shot is a suitable image to close my lengthy photo-essay of the Yukon's Arctic Grayling.

A mesmerizing display of traditional lanterns glowing softly in the night, painting the atmosphere with warm and vibrant hues. Captured in a dreamy, intimate setting where light dances with shadows, evoking a sense of wonder and serenity. 🌸✨

Mývatn is a shallow lake situated in an area of active volcanism in the North of Iceland, not far from Krafla volcano. The lake was created by a large basaltic lava eruption 2300 years ago, and the surrounding landscape is dominated by volcanic landforms, including lava pillars and rootless vents (pseudocraters).

The name of the lake (Icelandic mý ("midge") and vatn ("lake"); the lake of midges) comes from the huge numbers of flies (midges) to be found there in the summer. In fact, it is quite difficult to get a shot without them.

This shot was made just at midnight, at the first stop after returning to the farm to get the camera, to our way to Bjarnarflag . You can check the other shot here (and in the first comment of this post) The light, the reflections were amazing, this was our first Midnight Sun visible in Iceland

A common sight throughout much of Iceland during June/July is large fields of vibrant purple nootka, or Alaskan lupine. The flower looks at home in this landscape, but was actually introduced in 1945 to lowland areas in the southwest as a means to add nitrogen to the soil and also to function as an anchor for organic matter. Lupine has since flourished here, spreading to other regions like a wildfire, in almost effortless competition with the other species already in residence. Critics of this initiative view the flower as an invasive species that is threatening low-growing mosses and other native plants. Erosion is the gravest environmental problem Iceland faces today. Foliage loss, and ultimately soil erosion, occurs across the island, due largely to the extreme conditions of the environment, in particular the high winds. Some cite the free-ranging sheep as an added threat, with their constant grazing on already scant plant growth. Measures have been taken to encourage new growth that would create anchors for the remaining soil, but these approaches have been controversial.

We all have photos in our mind we want to take, way before we actually visit the place. Lupine fields were definitely one of those visions for me before going to Iceland. After arrival to Iceland I had a chance to photograph some fields with reasonably good light before this shot, however when we stopped at this scene, I knew it was a winner for me. It was bit adventurous as we had to cross an electric fence (functioning) to get to this field, for that we have been rewarded with amazing light, misty mood, beautiful colors in the sky and nearly no wind which allowed me to take 10s exposure without blurring lupine flowers.

Souq Sharq, located on the seafront of Safat, is one of shopping malls in Kuwait which has a great seafront promenade. Souq Sharq's distinguished architecture, blending traditional heritage with modern technology housing a wide range of shopping and recreational facilities made it an important landmark in the capital and a must for shoppers. Shopping is probably No 1 leisure activity in Kuwait and having shopping mall on the seaside makes it even more fun.

Souq Sharq is also one of "must be photographed" locations in Kuwait. Nearly every photographer has photos from this place in his/her portfolio. We had some clouds on the sky today which is something that doesn't happen very often in this part of the world, so I could not miss the opportunity to capture it.

Remember (and evently read again) The Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco. A novel about esoterism, complotism, manipulation. The story is situated in the Arts et Métiers Museum. Close to this spot, the Tube station : "Arts et Métiers". Look attentively at the small light surrounding the character at the vanishing point …

May be a hint to decipher the Umberto Eco's plot ? …
