Lunch on the terrace of the restaurant of the Royal Olympic hotel in Athens, where you feel you're dining on top of a cloud made of green and overlooking this majestic view of the athens national gardens.

Svartifoss (Black Fall) is the name of this waterfall in Skaftafell National Park in Iceland, and is one of the most popular sights in the park. It is surrounded by dark lava columns, which give rise to its name. The hexagonal columns were formed inside a lava flow which cooled extremely slowly, giving rise to crystallization.
The base of this waterfall is noteworthy for its sharp rocks. New hexagonal column sections break off faster than the falling water wears down the edges.
It was a cloudy-cloudy day, so why not shoot on B&W, anyway it was the shape of the rocks and the moving water what interested to my eye. I thought a long exposition would work for the image, the bright water, the dark stones....
Miss my b&w film camera loaded with an ISO 400 film, with its grain, its contrast....

Svartifoss (Cascada Negra) es el nombre de esta cascada en Parque Nacional de Skaftafell (Islandia), y es una sus atracciones más populares. Está rodeada por columnas de lava oscura, que dan origen a su nombre. Las columnas, de forma hexagonal, se formaron dentro de una erupcion de lava que se enfrió muy lentamente, mediante cristalización.
La base de la cascada destaca por sus rocas afiladas, cuyas secciones hexagonales son erosionadas en los bordes constantemente por el agua que cae.
Era un día nublado, muy nublado, ¿por qué no disparar en blanco y negro?. De todos modos lo único que me interesaba era el contraste de la forma de las rocas y el agua en movimiento. Una larga exposición me daría esta imagen, el agua clara, la piedras oscuras ....
En ese momento eché de menos mi cámara de película cargada con una película de ISO400, con sus matices, su contraste, su grano ....

Althought some people might be tired of sunrises/sunsets, I believe that it is the most dramatic part of the day, therefore I've decided to post another photo that was taken during this time of a day. Colors of this sunset remind me more of painting than photo. I've chosen this composition where the silhouette is very small and give lot of space to the sky/nature, which is exactly how it is in Mongolia - vast areas of nature and pure nothing.
This photo with amazing sky was taken in Ongiin Khiid monastery. The ruined monastery lies in two halfs on the banks of the Ongiin river. It was destroyed by the communist purges of the thirties and is being restored by a number of monks. It is an amazing site and stretches across the valley in the mountainous area around the river. There is not much left from the original place therefore I was happy to capture that beautiful sunset with the silhouette of pavilion.

This is a the view we had when we woke up on the roof of a hotel in Seef in the Wadi Dawan. The Wadi Dawan is located roughly halfay between Sayun and Al Mukhla on the coast.

What an absolute amazing trip this was. Alltough it didn’t seem to get good light at all for the whole afternoon, I stayed there and hoped for the last bit of sun that day to brake the clouds. Just minutes before sunset finally the light broke through and created this absolutly stunning scenery. So happy that i was patiently enouth to get this photograph.

I hope you had a wonderful week and are adjusting to the upcoming autumn just like me.
And yes as you can see I am still not out of the woods yet (not in my mind and photos anyway lol). And I hope you are not bored with the forest shots yet. I know there are quite a number of these shots (as I like to create the forest scene on my flickr page too) so please only comment on any photos that might appeal to you the most.
For any poem followers, below is a poem - which I had initially intended to find on the internet (as opposed to writing it myself). However, the one I came across didn't quite suit this image

A red carpet welcome from the forest .

I step into the autumn forest gateway
Welcoming red carpet of leaves all the way
Sun softly beaming through revealingly clad branches
Birds singing autumns tunes
With apprehensive delight I walk each precious step in line and all attune.
Each step warmly greeted by the earthy scent of leaves and barks and privileged forest sights
With open arms I twirl joyfully gazing up to the dizzying forest heights.
I see applauding, dancing and singing audience of birds, squirrels and even green and amber leaves.
Their smiles of eagerness. Like fans striving for celeb. attention, photo memorabilias and autographs to receive.
Is this my 15 minutes of fame.? ... I ask.. in my mind...
Smiling, waving, blowing kisses back, I reciprocate the warm welcome reserved for the celebrity kind .
Each glorious moment a magical dream - like floating on etheral wings.
It must be said - the golden glory of autumns throne is truly a special thing.

Off the western coast of Peninsular Malaysia, near the border with Thailand, lies a group of over 100 stunning tropical islands the largest of which is Pulau Langkawi. These islands are part of the mainland Malaysian state of Kedah. Over the last 20 years, under the tutelage of the Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohammad, himself born in Kedah, a tourist industry has developed which has given Langkawi an international reputation as an unspoiled holiday destination. This reputation appears well deserved - Langkawi is clean, green and friendly. Tourist development, on the whole, appears to be as low impact as possible and the islands still possess uncrowded beaches, thickly forested hillsides and unpolluted mangroves where monkeys, otters, kingfishers and hornbills abound.

Mother Nature at her best in Torres del Paine - Patagonia.
It took a while for the light to be exactly as I needed it for the shot I had in mind, bat it was sure worth the wait. Besides, I don't know of many better ways to spend your time than watching Mother Nature putting up an awesome show just for you.

Oman is a stunning place to visit with lot of beautiful nature to see. I was also lucky to experience wonderful strong storm just before sunset. I just had to find some point of interest to make it work even more. This tree/bush worked just fine.

Interestingly, I have noticed over time that the more film I shoot, and the happier I am with the photographs, the less attention they appear to receive from Flickr, in general. Of course, my intermittent presence here surely has something to do with this, as I suspect that a prime reason for attention is simply high levels of Flickr activity. Nonetheless, I wonder if my style has transitioned out of what is popular, or if I've stayed the same, and what is popular has changed. Don't get me wrong—it doesn't phase me in the least that my photographs aren't getting as much attention as they once did. I just find this phenomenon curious.
I'm interested in how your levels of contentment with your work have or have not been reflected in the people seeing it, particularly on Flickr, but also, elsewhere. Thoughts?
