4 hour star trails during the lyrid meteor shower at Komakallio, the brightening spring night skies cast their light making the meteors and few fireballs a bit harder to spot. How many Lyrid meteors can you find?
(tip: the bright arc from near the right edge is Vega)
Shot with Canon 60D using MagicLantern, Samyang 8mm fish-eye.
(Take a look at the reprocessed version with star alignment showing the meteor a bit better)

Fixed, non-tracking tripod, moderately light polluted suburban site (Milky Way invisible).
The same target, I know, but this time I used a powerful filter that removes most of the orange glow of light pollution. With slightly longer exposures, this reveals far more faint objects and structures in the sky. So here is a much better rendition of the North America and Pelican Nebula, with surrounding stars.
Until I get a tracking mount, and/or visit a dark sky site, this is the best I can do.

Finally had the chance today to get some landscape shots of a city in Infrared, something i've been wanting to do for years. These shots have been taken with a canon EOS-M body (with TS-E 17mm f/4 lens) that has been modified with a UV/IR pass 'superblue' filter thanks to the awesome folk @ lifepixel. All images are 6 shot brackets that have been 'double processed' using a combination of two techniques i've personally developed myself & been working on refining over the last few years.
Very excited to shoot the invisible spectrum, always finding surprising things that my naked eye can't see. — in Melbourne.
