This week's presentation at the Kopernik Observatory & Science Center was Tour Of The Solar System by Rick Kline of the Spacecraft Planetary Imaging Facility (SPIF). It was an lecture illustrated by images sent back by spacecraft, and included interesting side notes like how the wheels on the Curiosity Rover leave Morse code tracks across the face of Mars.
The highlight of the show was the Magic Planet display, product of Global Imagination, onto which he projected maps of the planets, to the oohs and aahs of the audience. He started with the Sun, shown here, and did all the planets as they came up.
A friend of a friend of mine is actually quite talented at card tricks. This guy actually makes me question if magic is real. He jokingly asked if I wanted to wager any money.
JordanCon attendees were encouraged to bring along their Magic: The Gathering decks to defeat Sanderson at the gaming tables on Friday and Saturday nights.
The search today for a missing dog in foster care was unsuccessful. There were however 2 sightings, and one very close - but Nikita's fear of people, outweighed her hunger (she broke out of her collar on Dec. 20th, and has been on the run since).
This photo is another dog called Magic, currently in foster care (was rescued with Nikita). She is not doing well in the foster home she is currently in, as she is nipping at the kids, and the children are not following the directions being given to them about the dog.
Looks like I will be taking this sweet gal in as my next foster, in a few weeks - as she really took a shine to me, and there are no children in my house hold. I just wanted to get through the bone biopsy with my hand, and have some time to recover, so that I will be able to give her the attention she needs (and I need 2 hands to walk her and Buster ;)
Magic was rescued with approximately 65-70 other dogs, that were living with a hoarder. Obviously the first 8 years of her life were lived in fear, unsanitary conditions, and cramped living quarters.

When the storm approaches
The sky first turns dark-green, then black
Hot drizzle falls before the mighty shower strikes
Beware and seek shelter at the roots of a big tree!
It’s the moment when the mighty ghosts appear
And angrily roam the twilight jungle....
