These 2 little fellows i found in my bedroom a few days apart. When i found each of them you could see something was wrong, the weather was poor so i left them near the window so they could get out if they wanted but was safe otherwise, sadly on either occasion neither lasted long.

I believe these are known as a Barbuts Cuckoo bumblebee.

This one was taken with Yashinon 55 with macro extension tube. It was a great idea to buy macro extension for this lens.

Shot with a 28mm macro extension tube. Cropped using Picmonkey.

Playing with my new 50mm 1.8 Canon lens with a 13mm macroextension tube on a rainy day.

Huntsman Spider I nearly stepped on, not sure which of us got the bigger fright! I then decided to try some macro shots using extension tubes and a 50mm lens.

Strobist Info: 580EX fired through white brolly from overhead 1/4 power, fired by Cactus triggers.(Second shadow behind is caused by torch shining in so I could see and focus on the spider).

13 shots merged in Photoshop for focus stack.

Day 21 of an Unknown Number

"Image 21"

Sometimes, you just have to get back to the basics. That is to say, sometimes you have nothing else in mind, and you ponder photographing a nail. I actually did think about the image beforehand, but was not sure how I would go about lighting it. I stuck a strip box overhead, and I was relatively happy with the gritty look of it. However, it was not particularly interesting. As the midnight hour approached, I decided to go with a multiple exposure, during which I would add two gelled speedlights. So, the first exposure was lit by the overhead strip light. That was followed by the red and blue gelled exposures on their respective sides. As one might expect, it is fascinating to see the detail in things we take for granted. I have seen enough close-up images of peoples' facial pores to last a lifetime, but the head of a nail is something entirely different. Thanks for stopping in!!
