macro shot of a flower

Needle and Thread macro shot, using Nikon D7200 and sigma 150mm macro lens.

some more macro shots of the tiny female flower of the Hazel tree, there were quite a lot on this one tree, have'nt seen this many before

I was playing around with a Ring flash -totally manual so it doesn't have any TTL flash, but I like it cause it can fire off many flashes per second if I want to do focus stacking

The story:

My wife is in our backyard and tells me to grab my camera because there is a praying mantis on the back window.

With camera and macro lens in hand, I slowly but surely get close enough to snap some ultra closeups of this fine lady. She grows accustomed to the sound of the shutter and pretty soon I'm inching closer and closer....and then the next thing I know she's jumped on the top of my lens.

Immediately I realize that that's the stellar shot - and I go get a second camera and ask my wife to hold the camera as I snap this shot.

I particularly like the puzzled expression on her face when the second camera shows up.....

Today it was very hot outside, not a single cloud in the sky. Nothing to shoot. Me and my son went and bought some coffee and I decided to make some macro shots of the beans. This shot in particular done with 18-55 lens and 3 extension tubes. Only natural light and a long exposure.

Old portable Smith Corona Manuel Typewriter: I bought this typewriter new over 50 years ago when I was in high school. It was purchased from a school & office supply store in Hillsdale, Michigan USA.

In this photo, the ink ribbon has become entangled in the type levers. This close up lets you see the detail on some of the the type bars at the end of the levers.

The manual typewriter was replaced first by the electric typewriter, but then typewriters as a word processor were replaced by computers/laptops/tablets etc..

A photo of the typewriter from which this macro shot was taken can be viewed here.
