I love taking photos of rain droplets on little moss plants, or other tiny plants. You never know what the camera will reflect and magnify, and I do enjoy opening the pictures in the computer to see what's there. Often the detail has been so tiny, I've been unable to see it with my eyes.

A macro capture of one little creature I just found recently at my home. These seem to come out only at night and are far different than the 2 or 3 other species at my home in Phoenix. The wikipedia article and other links from there were fascinating reading. Until I looked at other such geckos, I had thought this was a type of chameleon. The closest I could come with an ID is some sort of Helmeted gecko. The ID and tags are now "hemidactylus turcicus Mediterranian". Thanks to decapod dude, for an ID! The previous two images show other views in macro and in zoom. All had to be taken with flash, using the Minolta X1 DiMAGE.
This colourful fella, Elephant Hawk-moth (Deilephila elpenor) was in my garden resting on a conifer.
The English name of this moth is derived from the caterpillar's fanciful resemblance to an elephant's trunk.
The adults are attractively coloured pink and green affairs, with a streamlined appearance. They fly from May to July, visiting flowers such as honeysuckle (Lonicera) for nectar.
The larvae feed mainly on rosebay willowherb (Epilobium angustifolium), but also other plants as well, including bedstraw (Galium).
It is a common species in most of Britain, including Scotland, where it has increased its range in recent years.
Best viewed full screen on a PC or cast to TV.
RSPB Carsington Water (reservoir) is owned and managed by Severn Trent Water. The reservoir takes water from the River Derwent at Ambergate during winter months, pumping up to the reservoir by 10.5-kilometre long tunnels and aqueduct. It boasts a range of wildlife habitats from ancient hedgerows, species-rich wildflower meadows and native woodlands, to pond and scrapes, reedbeds and carefully-managed islands.
Since its construction, there have been over 215 bird species over 30 mammal species recorded.
Carsington Water is popular for kayaking, sailing, cycling, fishing and other various sports.
