Not much green grass around at the moment - does that make this photo slightly more acceptable 😂

From my garden. Ferns to Flickr. They are steadily unfolding and now's the perfect time to get some macro shots.

A macro capture of one little creature I just found recently at my home. These seem to come out only at night and are far different than the 2 or 3 other species at my home in Phoenix. The wikipedia article and other links from there were fascinating reading. Until I looked at other such geckos, I had thought this was a type of chameleon. The closest I could come with an ID is some sort of Helmeted gecko. The ID and tags are now "hemidactylus turcicus Mediterranian". Thanks to decapod dude, for an ID! The previous two images show other views in macro and in zoom. All had to be taken with flash, using the Minolta X1 DiMAGE.

Meow.

This colourful fella, Elephant Hawk-moth (Deilephila elpenor) was in my garden resting on a conifer.

The English name of this moth is derived from the caterpillar's fanciful resemblance to an elephant's trunk.

The adults are attractively coloured pink and green affairs, with a streamlined appearance. They fly from May to July, visiting flowers such as honeysuckle (Lonicera) for nectar.

The larvae feed mainly on rosebay willowherb (Epilobium angustifolium), but also other plants as well, including bedstraw (Galium).

It is a common species in most of Britain, including Scotland, where it has increased its range in recent years.
