Burdock (Arctium Minus). Here towards the end of its season.

The Burdock is a very common wild food plant found across the UK and again like lots of edible Wild Plants is considered a weed. The Burdock is found all over the UK and likes grassland, woodland, hedgerows and wastelands that are relatively untouched by human hand so that it can complete its two year lifecycle. The Burdock can get quite large during is two years and sometimes hits nearly 2 metres in height.

October 25th. "pieces of eight, damn their eyes". Ok so it's a bit of a variation on the theme! I was going for the macro capture of the eye on this chap but I didn't like any of my pics, except this one. The ship behind is an image in my I pad! (I also took some pirate pics of the boy but oh dear, he looked so sulky)

Macro capture of the Spanish Needle also called Shepherd's Needle photographed on the grounds of Naval Live Oaks Preserve in Gulf Breeze Florida. Camera used was the ON-1 Mark 2 with the OM 60MM F/2.8 Macro lens. Settings for this shot were 1/3200 sec at f/3.2, ISO 1000. Post process was done more as an artestic image done using ON1 Photo Raw 2025.2.

Seen this little fella while at Clifton Grove Local Nature Reserve, Nottinghamshire.

[it's a still from a video file]

It is one of the commonest garden butterflies, found throughout lowland England and Wales with a wingspan of 63mm. It's unmistakable, with quite spectacular eyes on the upperside of the hindwings that give this butterfly its name. These eyes must appear very threatening to predators, such as mice, that confront this butterfly head-on, where the body forming a "beak".

The Alliums in my garden are coming out :) This particular type is the Allium Siculum. Also know as the Honey Garlic, Sicilian Honey Lily, Sicilian Honey Garlic, or Mediterranean Bells. What ever you know it as, it's a lovely perennial plant and delightful to see bees pollinate them from below.

A macro capture of apple blossoms in May captured with Nikon’s classic micro 60mm f2.D lens, released in 1993 and still in production today...a favourite compact macro lens with classic good looks to boot!

Grape Hyacinths in my garden.

Grape hyacinth, Muscari is a genus of perennial bulbous plants native to Eurasia that produce spikes of dense, most commonly blue, urn-shaped flowers resembling bunches of grapes in the spring. The common name for the genus is grape hyacinth, but they should not be confused with hyacinths.

Plenty of things going on at Ogston Reservoir, but sometimes capturing reeds n weeds blowing in the summer breeze is equally satisfying.

Dandelion

Sansom Wood, Nottinghamshire.

One of the two plaques either side of the gate to the entry of the church. I like the combination of the Ivy, ornate wrought iron, stone and wood come together in this small unassuming area with the church in the background.

Might change it to BW, see how it changes the mood of the shot.

I found the missing screw and popped it in :)
