65 images taken with Canon 50D, Nikon CFI Plan 10x/0.25 objective, and Canon 300mm f/4L IS as tube lens (15x). Taken at 3 micron steps with a Cognisys StackShot and stacked in Zerene Stacker. Lit with MT-24EX @ 1/16 with diffusion gels.
Hypochrysops apelles looks as if someone pimped their ride with a bit of graff on the wings. This striking little butterfly was on the flowers of the sabal palm.
I rushed to get macro lens before this guy took flight..Unfortunately I didn't think I had enough time to grab my tripod...
This golden skipper is often found basking on vegetation, or making short buzzing flights among tall grass stems. Despite its name, 4 skipper species found in the British Isles are the same size or smaller than the Small Skipper.
Have been working in a butterfly garden for the last three weeks, and all kind of critters are been showing up for their free feeding.
