A toy electric motor as a 1:1 macro. I suppose it belongs to the series "Märklin Metall" from the early 70ies. This was a modular kit system made of metal to construct mechanical things for older kit. This one is a still working motor, driven by a 9V battery. The copper wires induce a magnetic effect propelling this motor like in every electric driven engine.

"Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy." - Anne Frank. There was a tree that she could catch a glimpse of from an attic window in the place where they were in hiding. She managed to find beauty while immersed in the depths of ugliness. This is a leaf from a huge Water Oak that is in our yard. It's not the same kind of tree as that which Anne viewed but I think she would still see the beauty.
A glass swizzle stick from our honeymoon back in 1996.
We were running our burgeoning business back then and so couldn’t take our honeymoon until the Christmas shutdown. We then pushed the financial boat out and and went to Singapore and Bali, where we stayed at the fabulous Grand Hyatt.
Every cocktail came with a stirrer or swizzle stick of some description, we ended up with quite a collection ;-)
Mesh laundry bags are great, but this always seems to happen.Another alternate from the mesh theme for Macro Mondays.

I really appreciate your comments and faves. I'm not a hoarder of contacts, but enjoy real-life, honest people. You are much more likely to get my comments and faves in return if you fit the latter description. Just sayin. :oD

This bell is a replica of a brass bell that was aboard the Titanic during her tragic maiden voyage. HMM everyone!
Macro Mondays, theme: Cloth
The cloth here is an item of traditional male ceremonial clothing in Kerala, India. This "mel-mundu" is woven of cotton, with a border of golden threads, and is worn like a shawl over the shoulder for special occasions (rose petals optional).

Macro Mondays: Treasured
A small collection of presents that are invaluable to me... The garnet heart was given to me from my mum (all the more treasured as it was one of the only survivors from a burglary during which almost all of my jewels, including some I was quite attached to for sentimental reasons, were stolen). The stone and the wooden heart were painted and given to me by the older of my two nieces, who's just turned 10. The flower in the back is the top of a box that was a long-ago Christmas present from my grandmother. We were so very close, and I still miss her a lot.
