A cold hoverfly, found on a chilly morning. Focus stacked using zerene

My favorite macro shot of the Indian embellished quilt seen at the Tucson Rock and Gem Show last year. The previous 3 images are also in the set for these images. Look at this one in the large or largst view for an idea of the incredible craftsmanship using beads an metallic threads.

I called this image Andromeda for the reminder of a myth:

"Andromeda (ăndrŏm`ĭdə), in Greek mythology, princess of Ethiopia, daughter of King Cepheus, king of Ethiopia, and Cassiopeia. According to most legends Cassiopeia angered Poseidon by saying that Andromeda (or possibly Cassiopeia herself) was more beautiful than the nereids. Poseidon sent a sea monster to prey upon the country; he could be appeased only by the sacrifice of the king's daughter. Andromeda in sacrifice was chained to a rock by the sea; but she was rescued by Perseus who killed the monster and later married her. Cassiopeia, Cepheus, and Andromeda were all set among the stars as constellations."

My husband was thrilled to receive roses and chocolates from a group of students at school who he helped coach this year (track and field and cross country running) I wonder if they knew that the roses would be so fun for me to play with today?

In other species, the larvae are insectivores and prey on aphids, thrips, and other plant-sucking insects. Some live in the nests of social insects of ants, termites or bees; in decaying vegetation, fungi or rotting wood.In Thailand have 50 species.

Butterfly Weed is a native NJ wildflower, that is food for Monarch Butterflies and host to the eggs they lay. I think they are one of the most beautiful wildflowers around. i have had them in my gardens before, and have hatched butterflies because of them. I found seeds last year at Leu Gardens in Orlando Florida and planted them again this year. they are easy to grow, but you must make sure where you plant them is where you want them to stay, as they have a tap root which if disturbed will kill the plant. i am hoping to attract some more butterflies, between this and the Butterfly Bushes i have....much to my daughter Kaileigh's dismay. She is scared to death of butterflies and moths, but will gladly handle a snake...strange child!!

I got back to my first love: macro shots.
