The (a) ingá, also called (a) ingazeira, is a tree of the genus Inga, the subfamily Mimosoideae, Fabaceae family. "Inga" also refers to the fruit of the tree: a long pod containing seeds surrounded by an often edible pulp. It is very common on the banks of rivers and lakes, and much sought by the fauna and the man by his seeds surrounded by white and sweet pulp. The ingazeiro usually has bloom more than once a year.
