And it's all worth it! My Mac is now usable!
For those wondering, I figured I'd mess around with 1.25 GB of RAM for now, and if I still needed it I could always upgrade the other DIMM later. Still, if I knew what a pain it was to open this sucker up I probably would have sprung for both at the same time!
Wooops, during my hard disk removing struggle, I snapped one of the wireless antenna connectors (wireless I think). When I assembled this back it was very painful to get that reattached! There is a micro RCA like plug on the end of that wire which needs to connect to a similar socket on the board

I use this to hook the Mac mini up to the TV. Not show is a stereo headphone to left and right audio composite, which I use to get audio to the TV.

This is a classic fifties television, we removed the tube and other stuff, and replaced it all with a MacMini and a 19" screen. The software running on the Mac is Joost.
... like spending hours to get my favorite game to run on my Mac Mini. As a geek the Mac is quite a shiny new toy for me, but as a user I'm disappointed by how unintuitive and complicated it is.
