Took a few shots to get them both "heads up" as they were preening constantly...I guess it takes some high maintenance to look that good ;-)

These birds had a very pretty feather color. The lighting was very bright which enhanced the colors. I took this photo at the Fort Worth Zoo during "Boo at the Zoo".

Taken at the San Diego Zoo's sister facility, the Wild Animal Park. This guy is pretty friendly; he will interact with you and then start showing off if you talk to him in a soothing, melodic tone.

Q: Why is a Hyacinth Swarovski™ crystal orange, but a Hyacinth macaw blue?

I don't know much about these birds other than the fact that they live a long time and that they have a can-opener mounted on the front of their heads. Oh yeah, they are also often very colorful.
