with apologies to Camille Saint-Saens (www.youtube.com/watch?v=71fZhMXlGT4)... Tree skeletons dance like puppets in a Javanese shadow play against clouds filling the valley below the Arapaho Peaks, Indian Peaks Wilderness, Colorado Front Range
The Blue Ridge Parkway is not a pleasant drive in heavy fog, but this dead tree whose limbs resist the prevailing winds was interesting. Seen through the fog it has an eerie spirit, like a witch dancing at Halloween. The Laurel Knob overlook, near Old Fort, North Carolina.
The Blue Ridge Parkway begins at Cherokee, North Carolina at Great Smoky Mountains National Park and proceeds 469 miles (755 km) northward to Afton Virginia, where it joins the Skyline Drive. The Skyline Drive continues 105 miles (169 km) north through the Shenandoah National Park to near Front Royal, Virginia. Both roads are administered by the U.S. National Park Service.
The slightly macabre sight of a sheep's skull... washed up onto the riverbank by the recent floods. Along the River Rother near Woolbeding.
Photoleap was used to create this image using a musican from a Key West bar and elements of other photos that I have taken.

The Danse Macabre was a popular motif in the Middle Ages, in which a cheerful corpse-y Death rocked out on a period instrument, calling typical medieval folk to their demise.
Now updated for the 21st century!
In this 6x6" illustration, a Blogger is tempted from his expository duties by Death's, ahem, little blue tweeting friend.
And those things sticking up out of the landscape - what are they? Posts. (Of course.)
In ink and watercolor, with some light blue pencil visible on Canson 140lb watercolor paper.
The We're Here! gang is visiting the "Macabre Danse - Bizarre Stories for Curious Children" group today. As you can see, I decided to stop reading the group description after the first two words. LOL

I recall the cartoons where skeleton ribs were used as xylophones. Turns out that Sant-Saëns already thought of that in the 1800s. "The piece makes particular use of the xylophone to imitate the sounds of rattling bones."

The task was to show a gothic outfit that could fit Narcisse Designs.
This one is my "favorite" of the series. I'm starting to worry about myself... But these were really cool to watch. And again, it was for practicing my lighting. ;-) I'll go back to pretty things again, but in the meantime...
Try it big and black thank's to fd!

A dose of encyclopedic reminders:
The Danse Macabre (Dance of Death), is an artistic genre of allegory of the Late Middle Ages on the universality of death. It consists of the dead, or a personification of death, summoning representatives from all walks of life to dance along to the grave. The effect was both frivolous, and terrifying. It was produced as memento mori, to remind people of the fragility of their lives.
So remember: Vanitas vanitatum et omnia vanitas, and even bricks will turn to cinders and ash, especially since they are made from plants (by the way - they will last longer than our bodies, anyway).
Brickworks again!
according to Wikipedia "Coulrophobia is an abnormal or exaggerated fear of clowns."
Doll made by Tonner. She is only visiting me for a short time before moving on to her forever home in Australia but I was told to take some pictures of this lovely girl first.

Fancy a chat, hit me up!
there was a medium sized softbox behind me and above on each of these shots. On the left shot the sun gave me a very small boost and was coming in from the left. obviously the sun was behind and rim. To be fair, i've never been as tired as i was when i shot these, i hadn't slept a wink the night before and had been up since 8 the day before and these were taken mid afternoon after walking across manchester. i didn't sleep until 9 o clock that night, but damn, i slept well.
