For a long time we didn't know what Mac looked like. We knew his personality. We knew he was Francis' best friend. We had already finished the story and still there was no drawing of Mac. Until one day, it just came to Laura- he's an eagle. And from there, Laura and Lee knew he needed an aviator's hat!
From left to right, the Mac laptops are:
- iBook G4 12" (2005)
- Powerbook G4 15" (2005) (rev E, ie: the last PowerPC Mac before the switch to Intel)
- Macbook Air 13" (2011)
- Macbook 13" (2009)
In this series I portray Mac DeMarco, an indie rock music artist. Mac DeMarco has been a huge inspiration to me since I was introduced to his music. The aesthetic of his sound has since then captivated me because of its uniqueness and grooviness. As you see in this series, I attempted to portray a bit of his personality and sound which is usually tropical/groovy like. He is also known as a very humble man which I look up to as well.

New Jersey is famous for Diners...those roadside havens for the weary traveler.
Macs Diner is located minutes from my studio (in Butler NJ USA) and is often the testing ground for many of my cameras.

"A diner is a prefabricated restaurant building characteristic of North America, especially on Long Island, in New York City, in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and in other areas of the Northeastern United States, although examples can be found throughout the US and in Canada. Mac kept seeing things in the forest, things that I couldn’t see or hear, and then he would run back towards me as if he had seen a big bull moose. There were no other people there, and a bear or mountain lion could have dispatched me with alarming alacrity (killed me), and my bones would never be discovered. Of course that could happen with other people there but it would be less likely.
Perhaps I need to grow a more sturdy backbone. Possibly Mac only saw a squirrel, though that wouldn’t explain his dashing back to me in obvious fear for his own skin. I love the solitude of a trail and mountain and forest to myself, the sound of my own footsteps and the birds chirping and singing. I also love another hiker around the next bend who might help in scaring off a big cat.
I admit I was a little nervous about encountering a bad man alone in the forest, too. Crazy thoughts? I suppose.
I’ll get a couple of walking poles and use them for self-defense. I’ll get a can of spray. I’ll take a martial arts class. I’ll get one of those loud horns that scares away dangerous animals, and I’ll leave Mac at home.
